The following morning Yuki woke up in Links arms. She was confused and disoriented. She didn't remember arriving home. The last thing she recalled was crying and Link wrapping his arms around her as he tried to sooth her broken heart. She tried to carefully pull away so she could go and clean herself up when arms quickly tightened around her in a vice like grip. She let out a weak sigh and gave up trying to free herself. She snuggled against him gripping his blue shirt, neither of them had bothered to change. Then again, they were both exhausted from the journey back home.
She closed her eyes as she snuggled back into his protective embrace. The movement slowly woke up Link as he looked down at the woman in his arms. She had literally just lost everything she knew and loved. And had no idea if her parents made it out alive. Hell even he didn't know, he didn't even no where the kids were taken. He rubbed her back once again trying to sooth her. He wanted her to sleep some more but the second he moved his hand did her grey eyes open wide and she stared at him. It was like she didn't even see him though. It was such a blank and empty stare that it broke his heart. He didn't like seeing such pain in her eyes, scratch that. He never liked seeing her in pain to start with.
"Yuki?" She looked at him again and didn't say anything "can you talk to me?" She sighed and gently pulled away, this time however he let her. She slowly sat up on his bed and pulled her knees to her chin. Link sat up next to her and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. When she looked at him she took in how his eyes seemed to have become a dull shade of blue, his hair was a shaggy mess, and his clothes rumpled from sleeping in them. Yet what really stood out was the worry, it wasn't pity, it was just pure worry. He knew how bad this bad hurt her. She she studied his appearance she noticed he had pointed ears, much like her own, and in the one ear there was a silver hoop. She didn't know he had his ear pierced.
Link held still as he watched her study him, almost like she was looking at him for the first time, he watched the curiosity form in her eyes as she saw the piercing, watched as she struggled to form words but didn't speak. Eventually her eyes just settled on his and she felt another urge to cry. His heart ached at the sight. Carefully almost like he was scared she would break or run away, he touched her face gently brushing her hair behind her own pointed ears. Giving her a soft smile, which she weakly returned. "Talk to me Yuki." She hesitated before slowly speaking her voice raspy from all the crying "it hurts." She placed her hand over her heart and he pulled her against him "I know Yuki, I know." He rubbed her arms as he sat there holding her.
It took a bit for her to speak again but when she did it sounded a bit better then her first attempt "can I go shower?" He chuckled as he let her go "of course, go ahead. I'm gonna make something for you to eat." She sighed but nodded, of course he would make her eat. Carefully she stood up from his bed and looked around his room. It was a simple room with white walls and a wooden floor. Very few things were in here, all he had was a dresser a bookcase and some photos.
Slowly she made her way out of the room and headed right for her own. She needed her bathing supplies. Once inside her room did she close the door and fall to her knees. The pain was to much, her home, the one place she knew her entire life, was gone. She sat on the wooden floor as her body trembled with the sobs she refused to voice. It took a few moments but once she settled down, did she slowly stand back up. She grabbed a change of clothes, her washing supplies and a towel. Carefully she opened the door and went to the bathroom. Once inside the bathroom did she strip out of her day old clothes and set the water to boiling hot. She felt cold, and needed to warm up.
Once the water was hot enough did she get in the tub and closed the curtain. She grabbed her soap and rag. And almost like she was on autopilot did she wash herself off and then her hair. However she didn't feel like moving so she sat down in the tub, her black hair clung to her skin and she placed her chin on her knees. She just sat there, completely oblivious to the water slowly losing its heat as she lost herself to her memories.
Link was worried, Yuki usually didn't take long showers and she had been in the bathroom for over and hour. He stopped what he was doing and went back upstairs before knocking on the bathroom door. "Yuki? Yuki answer me" Yuki looked up as she heard the knock on the door and blinked slowly coming back to her senses "Yes?" A shiver went through her body as she finally turned off then now ice cold water and stood up. "Are you done? Are you okay?" She blinked realizing she had caused him unnecessary worry. "I'm alright....as alright as I can be anyway. Yes I'm done. I'm sorry I used all the hot water."
He let out a weak laugh "I don't care about that. I'm just worried about you. About how you're feeling." Yuki sighed as she dried herself off and finally slid on her clean clothes. She opened the bathroom door and came face to face with a very worried Link. "Oh Yuki." He gently brushed her hair away from her face and took her hand. He had changed his clothes. She noticed, and his hair was brushed and clean. She wondered when he did that, when she realized he probably just rinsed off using the waterfall that was behind his house. "Link?" "Yeah Yuki?" He glanced back at her as he led her downstairs to the kitchen.
"Thank you." He looked at her with a raised eyebrow so she sighed as she attempted to explain "for being there." He grunted but didn't speak he wanted her to get this out. "You didn't have to be. But you were. You didn't let me go back, and you made sure we got out of there." He frowned, he wanted to go back but he also had a promise to keep. He swore he would keep her safe, and so far he had only failed once. And that was 10 years ago when Gai almost killed her. Granted she wasn't his target but she was the one who took the blow.
"You don't have to thank me Yuki. We're friends and that's what we do for each other." Slowly she nodded as she sat down to eat. She wasn't hungry but she knew if she tried to skip eating Link would kick her ass. He sat down across from her and watched her eat, he had already eaten while waiting for her. As she finished eating did he get up and gather all the dirty plates however it was Yuki who stopped him. She shook her head no as she took the plates and headed to the sink. He frowned, he was gonna do that for her. "Yuki...." "it's fine....go sit link. You've done enough for now." He groaned and reluctantly went to the living room and sat there waiting for her to finish.
She came out a bit later and sat down on the other side of the sofa and he looked at her. He noticed how she was deathly pale, and extremely vulnerable. Like the slightest thing would break her. He reached over and grabbed her arm pulling her back against his chest as he held her "it's gonna be okay. I know it doesn't feel like it, but it will be." She weakly nodded and looked out the window. Link sighed realizing she wasn't gonna really talk so he grabbed her hairbrush off of the table and worked on fixing her hair. Yuki slowly relaxed as Link tried to make sense of her tangled and knotty hair. Closing her eyes she almost fell asleep until link chuckled. "Sleep Yuki." He put her brush down and simply pulled her back against him. It didn't take too long before she succumbed to sleep.
He looked down at Yuki much like he had earlier that morning and sighed. This would take a while. She needed to heal. She needed to talk. But he also couldn't force her too. She was already so vulnerable. So he figured it would be best to let her come to him. Once he was sure that she was sound asleep did he carefully detangle himself from her and laid her on the sofa. He threw a green blanket over her and went outside. Usually Yuki did all the wash but right now he wanted her to sleep. So he decided to do all the typical house hold chores. He was hanging up the clothes to dry when he saw some villagers giggling at him.
He raised an eyebrow but other wise ignored them before he finish. He checked in once more with Yuki who was still sound asleep. Feeling a bit relieved he went back outside, fed the horses and made sure they weren't hurt before he went into town. Yuki woke up with a blood curling scream and the next thing she knew was the door was being slammed open and strong arms were wrapped around her shushing her, trying to calm her down as she thrashed about in his arms. It didn't take long to realize it was just Link before she broke down sobbing hysterically.
He was just coming back from buying some potions and other items when he heard it. A blood curling scream. Panic filled his entire being as he ran inside the house and saw Yuki Had woken and was beyond hysterical at this point. She couldn't tell reality from a nightmare. He dropped his bags not caring if anything broke. He pulled Yuki against his chest in an attempt to settle her down. Groaning a bit when she started pushing him away. Eventually she gave up. She must have realized it was him and he relaxed a tiny bit. Only to tighten his hold as she started crying hysterically in his arms. Eventually the trembling stopped as he saw she fell asleep in his arms yet again. He let out a relieved sigh. He didn't mind her crying. He just hated how hurt she was.
Carefully he laid her down and retrieved his bags. He put everything away when he decided that Yuki probably wasn't gonna do much but sleep today. So he carefully carried her up to his room. Laying her down he took off his boots and crawled into the empty spot next to her. Carefully holding her to his chest did he himself fall back asleep. His final thought was how he was going to help her overcome all of this.
