When Yuki woke it was pitch black outside. She looked over at link who was asleep next to her 'this is happening to often' she thought as she quickly yet carefully detangled herself from him and got out of his bed. She took a moment to make sure she didn't wake him and then steadied herself. She headed over to the door and looked back at him once more before she left. She went into her room and quickly threw together a travel bag. And put on her villages trade mark outfit before pulling out the mask that was meant to cover her face. Once she secured it did she remove the necklace. She felt sad, she was leaving him, yet she couldn't....she couldn't stay. Something inside of her was broken. And she didn't know how to fix it.
She quickly went downstairs skipping the third to bottom stair as it squeaked and she didn't wanna wake Link. She wanted to get away while she had a chance. She quickly made her way to the room in which they kept their weapons and only took what was Hers. She groaned as her stomach growled but making food was a sure fire way to wake Link from his sleep. She took a few apples and stuffed them into her bag. Checking to made sure she had everything. Once she was done and ready to go did she slip out of the house. She carefully closed the door and made her way to Eien. As she carefully pulled him out did Epona wake up. She looked around for link to see if they were all leave before Yuki frowned. Not that anyone could see it. The mask hid all of her face. Except for her hair and eyes that is. "Sorry girl, but I have to go. Epona let out a whine as she tried to follow but was stuck in her stall.
Yuki grimaced and hummed the same lullaby she did all those years ago. Epona easily settled down and Yuki sighed relieved. She climbed up onto Eien after fixing his saddle. She gently motioned him to move and they headed out of the village. She looked back only once a single tear running down her face before she blinked it away. She couldn't stay. She would only get in links way, and well he was destined for greater things then her. A broken women. She shook her head and soon she was gone completely out of sight of the village she had called her home.
It was early in the morning when a ray of light shone into links eyes and he woke with a groan. He reached to grab Yuki and pull her close so he could go back to sleep and froze as he felt an empty cold bed. He bolted up and looked around trying to find her. "Yuki?!" He quickly got out of bed and ran to her room, he didn't bother putting on a shirt he just needed to make sure Yuki was still here. However something in his gut said she was long gone. He opened her door with a slam and froze. Her room was a mess. Clothes all over the place, drawers left open, pictures on the floor. It looked like someone was in some kind of rush and could only take very few possessions. He saw something on her bed and walked over picking up the necklace. Something inside of it broke and he screamed.
He clutched the necklace and ran downstairs opening the weapons room and his eyes widened. Her weapons were gone. He ran outside hoping to god she had just left and froze. Epona was going nuts and Eien was gone. And for the first time in his life did he feel completely alone. He fell to his knees and hit the ground cursing anything that came to mind. After a few more fretful screams and angry punches did he stand up. He was determined to find her and drag her back home.
He went inside and changed into his clothes before he grabbed some weapons. He went back outside and got Epona read and quickly mounted her. Urging her into motion they bolted straight for hyrule village. He was gonna need help. Especially since he had no idea what time she left.
Yuki was a good distance away from both hyrule and hateneo when she lowered her mask to eat one of her apples. "I'm gonna need to find more food soon huh boy?" Eien snorted. He kept trying to turn back but Yuki was determined to escape. Yuki yawned and led Eien to a nearby stable. She paid for a bed and when they asked when they should wake her she simply said in 3 hours. That shocked the innkeeper but he agreed. She must have a long journey ahead of her after all. And how right he was.
Three hours had passed and they were soon waking the girl. She simply thanked them, replaced what she needed and was once again on the move. The further she was from Link the less tempted she was to run back to him.
Link arrived in hyrule and headed straight for the castle. His father had work today and he needed to speak with both him and the king anyway. Once he arrived and dismounted his horse and making sure she wouldn't run did he run inside the castle. The guards letting him threw once they saw the panicked look in his eyes.
Both the king and Kaito looked up from their conversation as they heard the doors slam open and saw an out of breath Link but no Yuki. "Son? What's wrong where is Yuki? Is she behind you?" Link took a few moments as his body trembled with both worry and anger. "No, i don't know where she is." At this two eyes filled with worry "what?!" Two voices screamed at the same time. Link looked up and panic was easy to see in his gaze as he told them what happened to Yuki's home and the nightmares. "I need to find her...please..." he fell to his knees trying so hard to not cry.
His father walked over and knelt down next to him placing a hand on his shoulder "we'll find her. We'll tell the Guards and knights on the look out for her." The king Frowned. As he listened to the tale from link he felt dread fill his heart "order a group of men to go look. Link I trust you can look on your own?" He went to agree when zelda came in "he won't be alone. I'm going with him." "Zelda..." her father started but she put her foot down "no, she's my friend as much as she is links. And I'm worried. What if she heads to her home? What if something happens to her? Besides we can use this opportunity to tell Link about my premonition." The king sighed in defeat as he looked to Link "protect my daughter. Now quickly go. Before it gets any later. And may the goddess protect you both." And with that the two ran off.
Kaito quickly gathered a group and they all set out to tell the other guards and knights as well as look for Yuki herself.
Yuki had stopped by her home and looked around. She wanted to see if anyone was still here, and how many had died. She was especially worried about her parents. Carefully both Yuki and Eien made their way through the town. She slowly dismounted Eien and walked into one of the houses. And what she saw made the blood in her veins turn to ice. She felt sick as the smell of iron was still heavily in the air. Carefully she opened another door and froze. Laying on the floor was a mother and child. She backed away and tripped falling onto her ass as she scooted out of the room.
She quickly composed herself long enough to stand as she quickly made her way out. Pulling off her mask she threw up onto the blood stained road. Once she finished she rinsed her mouth and recovered it. Heading to another house she saw this one was empty. She took the arrows she found, and some potions before leaving. As she continued her search she saw more and more of the same. Dead parents, dead children. Yet this wasn't everyone, so she felt some form of relief as it seemed most were able to escape.
She was so distracted that she didn't realize a moblin was right behind her till it let out an ungodly scream and charged right at her. She just narrowly dodged the creatures attack and drew her own sword. Quickly blocking the next attack. She grinned as it forced her backwards and then she swung. Her aim was true and she managed to severely injure said creature. Once her battle finished and it faded into a cloud of purple smoke did she continue moving. Eien was spooked and to be honest so was she. She didn't know what to expect. But this entire ordeal had really fucked her head up and heavy guilt overcame her. She should have stayed. She should have fought. But no, she ran. She ran away like she was told to. She didn't even know if he's siblings were okay. She was an awful person. At least that's what she thought.
She finally made it to her house and took a deep breath. She didn't know what she would find and honestly she wasn't prepared for it. She slowly opened the door and went inside only to stop dead in her tracks. Laying not even five feet from her, was her mother. Her throat clearly sliced open and a stab wound going right through her heart was easy to see. Around her the room was in ruins, she fell to her knees and crawled over to her. Carefully cradling her moms upper body she finally broke, a scream tore itself out of her mouth as sobs wracked her entire body. She wanted her mom. She wanted her mom to open her eyes and comfort her. She wanted her to laugh and smile. But she wasn't going to be doing that ever again. Her mother was dead.
Slowly she lowered her mom back to the floor and got up. She needed to finish checking the house. As she continued her search she found several more destroyed rooms and broken items. A hollow ache filled her chest. She didn't see her father and could only hope he had gotten out of there. She came back to the living room as her memories of the past tormented her already fragile mind. She went outside and grabbed a shovel and started digging. At the very least, she could bury her mother. An hour or so later she had a decent size grave. She went back inside wrapped her mom in a white sheet and carefully lowered her inside. Once she had refilled the grave Did she taken Eiens reigns and remount him.
She clicked her tongue and soon Eien was bolting out of the village.
Link and zelda arrived hours later. Both quickly dismounted their horses and ran into the village hoping they would find her here. They hadn't found her in hyrule, or Kakriko village. And anyone they spoke to never recalled seeing her. The only person who was of any help was an innkeeper for an stable. He described the girl who had been there only hours ago. He was worried, why were people looking for her. Was she in trouble? Was she bad news? Link frowned as be explained she was his friend and the innkeeper nodded. He understood and said there were very few places she could head to.
Once they were inside did Zelda freeze. Horror was all over her face. Was this the casualty of war? "We gotta keep moving Zelda. She might be here." She nodded and they quickly continued to search for her. Zelda was checking out a house when link screamed. She ran to check on him and froze. Bodies. Dead bodies. Adults and children alike. Carefully she led Link away from them and rubbed his back as he threw up the contents of his stomach.
"She's not here..." she hoped and prayed she wasn't and if she came here she hoped she didn't come inside. The sight was horrifying to say the least. They checked Yuki's old home but didn't see anything besides destruction and blood. That puzzled link, where did the blood come from? Was Alexa alright? Was Hiro okay? He slowly headed outside and saw a freshly dug grave and froze. Someone had been here, and someone had dug this grave. He trembled as he slowly removed all the dirt. He needed to see who was under there.
Once the grave was reopened and the sheet undone did his blood run cold. It was Alexa. "Link? Who is it?" Her voice was trembling she was scared. "Alexa...." Zelda gasped "oh no. Who...who do you think buried her?" Link groaned as only 1 name case to mind. "Yuki probably did. Meaning...." he trailed off as Zelda immediately understood. She looked away as she fought back tears. "We should head back. It's to late to continue and I don't feel safe staying here. Especially among the dead." He slowly nodded and he refilled the grave. "We can't leave them like this...." Zelda placed a hand on his shoulder "we won't. I'll talk to father and have them all given a proper burial." Link slowly nodded and allowed Zelda to lead him away. He didn't look back, he couldn't. His heart was in pieces, his best friend missing.
A part of him was missing and he was filled with nothing but loneliness. The next few weeks were the same thing. He was staying with his father now. He couldn't stand living in an empty house. A house that had nothing but memories of him and Yuki. He was losing hope. No one heard where Yuki was, and no one knew were to even begin looking. He could only hope she would come back to him.
