AMELIAS POV
Work was exhausting. I just did two surgeries and more people were coming in, so many car accidents and tree branches falling. I ran in the elevator with Jo to see my next patient. The elevator doors closed and Jo smiled.
"So how are the kids?" She asked.
"God no you're making me feel old," I laughed, "but amazing, being a mom is the best feeling in the world." I smiled.
"Awe," She said, "Owen showed me a photo of Emma she looks just like you."
"Yeah," I smiled. The elevator came to a sudden stop and lights went out.
"Shit were stuck," Jo said.
"Fuck," I said. Jo pressed the emergency button and I called Owen.
"Hey I'm in surgery right now what's up?" He said.
"I'm stuck in an elevator," I said.
"Don't panic," he said.
"Owen," I said slightly panicking.
"Do not panic Amelia," He said.
"Okay," I said.
"I love you," He said.
"I love you too," I said.
"Hang in there," He said, "it'll be okay, call bailey or someone I'm sure she's already calling the fire stations."
"Okay, Yeah," I said, "wow you're always so calm."
"I tried," he chuckled.
"Okay well I'll let you get back to saving lives," I said.
"Okay I love you," i said.
"I love you too," He said. I hung up and looked at Jo.
"I texted Bailey she's on it," She said.
"Okay," I said. I thought about the kids, work had been hard without them today and they're all I wanted right now.
"I really don't like elevators," Jo said.
"Yeah me either," I said, "ugh I really miss my kids."
"I can imagine," she said. I leaned up against the wall and frowned.
"Hey it's going to be okay," Jo said.
"Yeah," I said. Arizona called me and I was positive it was about Emma.
"Hey are you busy?" She said.
"Uh no just stuck in an elevator," I said.
"Oh gosh," she said, "okay never mind."
"No what's wrong?" i asked.
"Emma's just been crying but I'll go comfort her it's okay," she said.
"Oh," I said sadly, "yeah I'm sorry."
"Hey it's okay, and we're going to get you out of that elevator," Arizona said.
"I miss them," I said, "can you put Ethan and Lucas on the phone while you're there?"
"Yes of course," she said. I could feel tears starting to form. I sat down on the elevator floor and leaned up against the wall. I was starting to get a little claustrophobic in the elevator and I knew i needed to get out soon.
"Hi mommy!" Lucas said.
"Hi baby," I smiled breaking me out of my thoughts.
"Mommy Ethan and I drew pictures of you and daddy! I want to show you later!" He giggled.
"I can't wait to see them," I said, "Are you and your brother behaving?"
"Yes," He said.
"No fighting?" I chuckled.
"Nope!" He giggled.
"Alright then," I chuckled.
"Mommy Ethan's sleeping," He said.
"Okay," I chuckled, "Are you tired why don't you take a nap?"
"I not tired!" He said.
"Okay then," I laughed.
"Mommy Aunty wants to tell you something," he said and I heard the static of him handing the phone over.
"Hey," Arizona said, "I got emma to stop crying no need to worry."
"I need to get out of this elevator," I said.
"The fire department is on their way but there's so many roads closed," she said.
"Do you know if Owen is out of surgery?" I asked.
"He's not," She said.
"Okay," I said. I heard the beep of a pager and she said she had to go. I hung up and looked at Jo who was texting on her phone, probably Alex.
"Alex said the fire department is on their way," She said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"I get kinda claustrophobic," I said.
"Oh," she said, "me too but I'm okay now."
"I really just need to get out of this elevator," I chuckled.
"Yeah I feel ya," she said.
"I also really miss my kids," I sighed.
"Yeah," Jo said.
"So you and Alex a thing yet?" I said.
"What? Alex and I no no," she said.
"Oh come on," I said, "I saw the way he looked at you today and he told me he has a big crush on you."
"I mean yeah we've been talking," she said.
"Oh is that what the kids call it now a days," I chuckled, " 'talking'. "
"Now you're making me feel super young," she chuckled.
"Hey you are," I said.
"I'm only 26," She said.
"Beats almost 30," I chuckled.
"Wow so you and Owen have been together for like 15 years?" She said.
"Yup," I said, "15 years on September 16th."
"Wow," She said, "that's incredible."
"My first boyfriend," I smiled.
"Wow oh my gosh," she said.
"Yeah," I smiled, "you know it's crazy as a kid we always talking about getting married and having kids but I never actually thought it would happen, but I'm so grateful it did."
"That's amazing," she said, "what were you a sophomore in high school?"
"Yeah," I said.
"Wow that's amazing," she said.
"Yeah," I smiled. Her phone buzzed and she frowned.
"Alex said probably another hour," Jo said.
"An hour?" I said.
"Yeah," Jo said, "at least, they're working on another elevator right now there's a patient in that one."
"Oh," I said.
"Yeah," she said, "looks like we're stuck."
