a few weeks later...
OWENS POV
Amelia and I have been trying for a baby for a little while. And by trying, we've just been having lots of sex. It's been a few weeks since we first started trying but I don't want to push her to take a test incase it's negative and I know it'll crush her. She came out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee and her hair was in a messy bun.
"Hey honey I have to run a few errands before work is it alright if we take separate cars to work?" She asked.
"Yeah sure," I said, "so where ya going?"
"Target," she chuckled, "I ran out of coffee creamer and the other day I chipped one of my mugs."
"Well have fun," I chuckled and kissed her head.
"Thanks," she chuckled. I wrapped her into a hug.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," She said. She put on her cute black jacket and grabbed her keys.
"I'll catch you later," She said.
"Okay," i said.
AMELIAS POV
Today is the day. Owen and I have been having sex for weeks trying to get pregnant. Today I'm going to the store to get a test. I know I should take the test with him, but I think it's better if I just do it alone because there's a chance it could be negative. I told Owen I ran out of coffee creamer and I needed a new mug so he wouldn't think much of it. I got in my car and drove to Target. I was actually really scared. I'm going to be so thrilled if it's positive but if it's negative I have no idea how I'll tell Owen. I walked into target and I walked to the pregnancy test isle. Oh my god there were so many options. I got three tests and bought them and figured I'd just take them at work real quick. I bought the tests and drove over to work. I got out of my car and I ran inside and went into one of the bathrooms. I locked the door behind me and opened the tests. I finished my coffee so I'd have to pee and I took the tests. I put them on a paper towel by the sink and paced back and forth until the timer on my phone went off. I shut the timer off and looked at myself in the mirror. I was scared as hell to looked down. I finally got myself together and looked down. I looked down at three negative tests.
OWENS POV
Amelia and I were working all morning and it was finally our lunch break. She sat down across from me. She was quietly eating her salad and I knew something was up.
"Hey what's wrong?" I said. She looked up at me and I saw tears start to form in her eyes.
"Uh I lost a patient today," she said quietly.
"I'm sorry," I said, "Do you want to talk about it?"
"No," she said quickly.
"Okay," I said.
"Uh Hey I gotta go I'll see you at home?" She said and got up.
"Amelia," I said and stood up, "honey what's wrong?"
"I-I gotta go," She said as tears filled her eyes and she ran out. I ran down the hall after her but she went into the bathroom.
AMELIAS POV
I closed the bathroom door behind me as tears streamed down my face. Meredith was at the sink and she turned to me and saw me crying.
"Amelia what's wrong?" She said.
"I don't wanna talk about it," I said.
"Are you and Owen Okay?" She asked.
"Yeah," I said, "Uh, Owen and I want to start a family so we've been trying lately and I just took a few tests and they were negative."
"Oh I'm sorry Amelia," she said and hugged me.
"I mean I know it takes time sometimes so I shouldn't be this upset but I don't know how to tell him," I said.
"Okay just calm down," she said, "breathe you're okay."
OWENS POV
I got home before Amelia today and I was worried about her. I started making dinner when I heard the apartment door open. I looked over and Amelia was on her phone. She hung her jacket up and took her boots off. She put her phone and keys down.
"Uh Hey can we talk?" She said quietly.
"Yeah of course," I said.
"I, Uh, I took a pregnancy test today," she said, "and they were all negative." My heart broke, but I knew this could happen. I walked over and hugged her tightly.
"I didn't lose a patient today I was just so scared to tell you," she said.
"It's okay honey," I said, "these things take time sometimes, it's okay that it was negative. So what? Then we keep trying until it's positive, don't beat yourself up for it, it's okay. I love you."
"I love you too," She said crying. I kissed her head and reassured her that it was okay. I rubbed her back as she calmed down.
"I don't know why I'm so upset," she said, "I knew this could happen."
"Hey it's okay," I said, "it's okay to be upset. Just calm down, it's okay, we're okay, and our kids will be okay when we get there."
"You always say the right things," she said, "I don't know why I was so scared to tell you."
"You never have to be scared to tell me anything," I said, "I will always love you and always be there for you."
