CHAPTER 42: Dingy Diners And Sandwiches.
"You are bringing out a different kind of me
There's no safety net that's underneath, I'm free
Falling all in."
-Shawn Mendes.
The sunlight poured in thin streams inside the room, little dust specks seeming like pixie dust. I could hear the faint sounds of birds outside and I languidly stretch like a feline before letting out a monster yawn. Mhm, the house was really quiet. That's a first. I must have woken up really early today. I smile. The blinking numbers on the bedstand taunt me and I stare at it dumbfounded.
No-No way. It is way way way past my-wait that's why the house is dead silent. Everyone already left and no one even bothered to wake me and now I was going to be late and it was all their freaking fault.
I let out a frustrated yell and throw the covers before sprinting to the bathroom. No time for shower. I finish brushing my teeth, pulling on clothes, shoes, where the hell is my bag and ugh the books. I race down the stairs and slip on the shiny floors but manage to not face palm the carpet.
I rummage the cabinets and growl. I'm so going to kill William. Little theif, always stealing my poptarts. I grab a small packet of biscuits and fumble with the lock. I freeze when I realize how the hell am I going to get to school. Mum is not here, Luke is out of the picture and bus? This is one of the times where you feel like your legs would carry you faster than public transport. I shrug to myself, time to speed walk at superhuman speed.
I push my hair back angrily, trying to open the packet while managing to hold my phone and the bag. A loud horn makes me jump and the packet falls down.
"Ugh." I yell and lean down to pick the damn biscuit and all my hair slide down with me. I huff and brush them back before turning to curse out the damn driver of that monstrosity of a horn.
My jaw unhinges when Luke rolls the window down and raises a brow at me.
                              "You're a mess."
Oh wow thanks for the confidence boost.
                              "Thanks Captain Obvious."
                              "Get in." he sighs.
                              What?
When I keep staring at him stupidly he glares at me.
"Hop in or I'm leaving you here stranded. Two seconds Eleanor."
I gasp and swallow my pride before rushing towards the passenger seat. I feel the rush of excitement course through me by being in his car again. Neither Kelly's sleek car nor Mason's convertible could ever match his simple black car. Some things just don't have to be extravagant to be appealing.
He opens it from the inside and I hit my head before getting in. I look at him stifling his laugh and I glare.
"If you even so much as chuckle I'm kicking your ass."
"You forget this is my car."
                              "I don't care."
"I'm doing you a favour you know. Try being more grateful. It's good for you."
I munch on my biscuit and throw him a look. "Oh Thank you Lord Lucas for saving my ass on this fateful morning. How can I ever repay your kind kind kindness?"
"A simple Thank you would have sufficed."
                              "I'm done talking."
                              "Thank God."
I huff and try not to scream. If he wanted to be mean to me why the hell did he offer to drive us. I could have walked. Alright no, I'm really grateful but ugh he's so aggravating. A mournful song was playing on the radio and I glare at it.
