CHAPTER 28: Gifts From California.
"And I will take you in my arms
And hold you right where you belong."
-Shane Filan.
I screamed.
She screamed.
Emma screamed because I screamed.
The triplets screamed because Emma did.
And Charlie screamed because he thought it would be cool to join the screaming fest.
Yeah there was a lot of screaming for that one moment.
“Lilliana Elise Robinson. What in the world..?” I yell, taking off and launching myself right in her arms.
She laughs staggering back by the impact but holds me firmly, not letting me fall.
Just like she always does.
I cling to her tightly laughing with mirth but then the laughs turn into sobs when I realise how much I've missed my best friend. She laughs gently, patting my head like a child.
“Shh... it's okay. Mama's here now.”
“Shut up.” I push her away laughing but then again tightly wrap my arms around her waist.
“God. I missed you.” I murmur. “Never thought I'd see the day I'll admit this to you.”
She pulls back and holds me by my shoulders at an arm's length. Her sharp bright green eyes wander around my face, then all the way to my toes, then back up again.
“You look different.”
I roll my eyes. “We FaceTime each other almost everyday.”
“It's different seeing you in person.” she states her eyes not leaving my face.
“You look a little different too.” I murmur taking in her sunkissed face and long hair. If it was possible, she looked a little taller too. The only thing I was certain that didn't change about her, were her eyes.
My favorite forest green eyes of hers.
“Lily..” I hear a small squeal behind me and I turn just in time to see Emma run with her small legs to her. Lily laughs and crouches to pick her up in her arms, their giggles mingling as Lily tickles her. I wink at Will and his face turns blazing hot as he averts eye contact with me.
My little brother had a massive crush on my best friend back in the days.
Now even if he is over the little crush, I don't miss the slightest chance to tease him.
He was pretty lovesick when it came to her. He used to follow me everywhere I went along with Lily, it was kind of annoying to have my little brother tag along in everything I did. I remember he used to get these really pretty lilies for her on every weekend, used to save red coloured M&Ms for her even though he loved it, even if it was just a childish crush he always made her feel appreciated.
The best thing about him is that even after so many years he still makes her feel the same way.
“William, what are you doing there!? Come here, you idiot.” Lily beckons him over grinning widely and he smiles back taking hesitant steps towards her. When he's at an arm's length she grabs his hand and gives him a long crushing hug.
