CHAPTER 6: Crazy Big Family.
"You shine even on a rainy day
And I can find your halo
Guides me to wherever you fall."
- James Blunt.
"So do you like it?" He looks at me amused as we stand before a quiet school that will be bustling with teens tomorrow.
"Uh huh." I nod my head at the huge building before me, then turn to look at him.
"Are we allowed to go inside?"
"Of course, I come here for soccer practices on the weekends, no one really cares as long as you don't break anything, vandalise the property and try to be a graffiti artist." he counts on his fingers and I raise a brow defiantly.
"I don't think I'm gonna do any of those stuff."
"I know you won't, you seem like one of those good nerds who don't rebel." He smirks and I narrow my eyes at him. But then I realize I'm glaring at his back and fasten my steps to catch up with him.
"Hey, don't judge, you know nothing about me."
"But I will in due time." He states confidently and my lips twitch as I follow him like a lost puppy.
The school was freaking awesome. It was a lot bigger than my last one in Canada. The cafeteria was closed so I didn't get a glimpse of that. I was gonna see that everyday so no biggie. The soccer stadium was jaw dropping. He nods at some guys practicing and I politely smile at them.
But it was not as beautiful as the basketball court. I literally gasped out loud when I saw it. I could imagine myself playing in it. And let me tell you it felt awesome. We didn't take a tour to the classrooms since they were closed too.
I guess he just brought me to show the sports part of the school. My excitement level to start school had towered over all the doubts I had for tomorrow. His phone breaks my thoughts and I look at him. Guess time to leave? He was silent the whole time. Only speaking when I asked something. Guess he's not one of the talking one's like Damon.
"My friends want to meet up, wanna join us?" He looks up from the phone expectantly.
I think for a moment. It'll be so awkward. But It'll be a good chance for me to make some friends before school starts tomorrow so I nod a yes. He types his reply on his phone then slips it into his pocket.
"Ready to leave?"
"Yep." I confirm taking one last look at the court and the hoop. I can't wait to pass a ball through it. He follows my gaze but doesn't say anything. We walk through the hallways and I trail my fingers through the lockers as we pass them.
The car ride was silent well until Taylor Swift's Shake it off plays and I start bouncing in my seat. He looks at me amused and I clear my throat to compose myself .
I stay composed for five seconds.
Who cares anyways?
I sing under my breath and bounce my feet up and down. I remember my dance with Damon and my cheeks flame red. It burns even more red when Luke stares at me raising a brow.
"We're here." he turns the key still staring at me with a ghost of a smile.
I get out of the car still humming and squint my eyes to see the small cafe we were walking into. The smell of coffee hits us just as we enter making me breathe more deeply. Even though it wasn't much spacious, the booths were all filled and there was a small queue before the barista. There were quotes hung all around, small potted plants placed in the corners.
