EPILOGUE: Part Two.
Dear soon-to-be-mommy,
Eleanor Lucas James I can't believe in a matter of only a few months we're going to be parents. You're going to be the mother of my child and I'm going to be a Dad. A dad Ellie! Right now you're in her nursery, stroking your beautiful bump and already reading her stories. I know it annoys you that I keep referring the baby as her, but I'm fairly certain it's going to be a girl.
She's gonna have my eyes, your long midnight black hair, your stubborn chin and my right dimple that you love so much. But it doesn't matter if it's a boy or a girl, or if the baby looks like you or me, I'll love him/her endlessly. I'm already in love.
I know how scary this is for you, how insecure you feel sometimes, you think you're weak when you confess your deepest fears to me crying at night, but you're not. You're so strong love and I cannot be thankful enough for you. Your bump is the most beautiful sight I've ever seen, nothing can compare to what I feel when I kiss it every night and morning with your hands in my hair, to know our baby is in there, safe from this world.
We can do this love, I can only hope our baby grows up to be as kind, compassionate and gentle as you are. There are days where I beg God to keep you safe, to keep the baby safe, to keep my little family safe. That's what we're doing love, we're creating a family. Soon, very soon we're going to be a family of three. It's scary at times, when I see you crying and helpless, I can't help but get scared but then I imagine tiny little hands holding onto my finger, small toes wriggling in the air, round cheeks pink from crying, a face that will hold both of our features and no fear can stand in comparison to that joy.
I can't wait for our baby to enter this world, I can't wait to see you hold her, to kiss her and watch her grow up. We're going to be amazing parents sweet, this won't be easy but always remember you have me. I love you my wife, you continue to make me the happiest man everyday.
I have to wrap this up, you're already tired and hungry, craving those cursed chicken tenders with apple sauce again. The things you make me do! But I love you anyways. And will always continue to do so.
Your gorgeous husband,
Lucas Alexander James
