*Three Months Later*
"Justin, just help me with this will you?" I whined, becoming impatient and easy tempered. The first months of having Jaycee was a nightmare. Justin and I constantly bickered, never getting along and never in the same room. As the months carried on the fighting became less and then we were inseparable. Yesterday the fighting started again. Non stop arguing over stupid things. And next week is our one year anniversary. I know, time flys.
"I'm busy cleaning up this mess." He replied bluntly, picking up the dry cereal that Jaycee had spilled all over the floor. I was trying to get a bottle ready for her on top of trying to cook a nice dinner. I was also holding Jaycee, who was currently crying for her milk. She had really turned into quite the character, taking in her fathers humor. She rarely cries, besides when she's hungry or tired. Her favorite thing in this world so far is Justin's gold chains. Whenever he wears them she plays with them. They keep her distracted so Justin always wears them.
"Can you hurry?" I said rather rudely, not expecting to be. Justin scoffed, shaking his head and rolling his eyes. I let out an annoyed breath and trying to warm up the bottle before the water in the cooking pot boiled over. I set the timer and hurriedly went to stir the noodles in the water. I held Jaycee in one arm, placing her on my hip for support. I went to the fridge and grabbed some Fettuccine Alfredo sauce to put on the noodles when they were ready.
A bad headache was coming on, and I knew tonight was not going to go good. I was more mad at Justin though, who wasn't even doing anything now. I went to rest my hand on the counter, but ended up placing it on the hot burner to the stove. I quickly pulled it back, "Ow, fuck!" I cursed, the burning sensation on my hand become worse. Before I knew it, I was in tears. And that's the thing, I have become so sensitive.
"Okay, okay. You need to sit down." Justin said softly, taking a cold ice pack from the freezer. He held it to me and took Jaycee. I took the ice pack and say down at the dining room table. "I'm sorry. I should have listened. I should have helped."
"Ya think?" I mumbled hoping he wouldn't hear but he did. He didn't say anything, just went to get Jaycee's bottle so she would stop crying. I knew I shouldn't have said anything because now we were back to how it was a few minutes ago. I wiped my tears with my good hand. I held the ice pack to my hand, hoping it would stop hurting. I leaned back in the chair and watched Justin, admiring the way he handled Jaycee. I know I should be mad at him but I just can't be.
We ended up eating dinner in silence, besides Jaycee's cute high pitched noises as she ate her peas and carrots. I glanced at Justin every so often seeing him looking down at his food. After he ate, he went upstairs and I heard the shower running. I put Jaycee to sleep by the time Justin got out. I waited a few minutes while Justin got dressed to go into the bedroom. I still held the ice pack, the burning sensation starting to decrease. After a few minutes I knocked on the bedroom door. "J? Can I come in?" I asked softly, opening the door a crack. I saw him sitting on the edge of the bed, his head in his hands where his fingers ran through his wet hair. His head snapped up when he heard my voice. I went in.
"I'm sorry." I whispered, staying leaned against the back of the closed door. "I was being selfish. I'm just frustrated."
"Babe, let's just forget about it okay?" Justin said, standing up and pulling me into a tight hug. I hugged back, missing him in my arms. I know it's only been two days but it still seems like forever. We stayed like this for a while, just in silence and hugging. "We have fought over things like this before. You know it's nothing."
"I know I just don't like to fight with you." I said to him. He nodded in agreement and It went silent again.
"You excited for next week?" He asked, looking down at me with a huge grin. I smiled wide.
