Chapter 13

-Justin-

I twisted the door handle and swung the door open, quietly shutting it behind me. I looked foreword seeing Hailee looking lifeless on the bed that sat ahead of me. Making my way over to her, I pulled the chair that was nearby closer to the bed and sat down. I propped my elbows on the bed and took her hand, kissing it. I held it to my cheek and shut my eyes. I saw her chest rising and falling which was a good thing for me to see.

"Please let my baby be perfectly fine when she wakes." I whispered to myself, my voice trembling. I was scared to be honest. I'm just hoping for the best. I hadn't noticed the tears rolling down my cheeks. "I love you so so so so much." I kept repeating even though she couldn't hear me. But I didn't care. I liked saying those words to her whether she can reply or not. My eyes made their way to her beautiful face. She had a bandage on her forehead right above her eyebrow and a few cuts and bruises here and there. Her face way free of makeup. She looked terrible and yet she still managed to look beautiful. I remained with my arms resting on the bed for a long time. I just wanted her to wake up so I could hold her. So I could have her arms wrap around me and have her smile her beautiful smile at me. I heard the door open, bringing back into reality from my thoughts. I looked behind me seeing mom. I had called her when I got here to tell her about Hailee and for her to get here as fast as she could.

"Hey Justin. She okay?" She said immediately. I nodded and she came to me giving me a quick hug.

"She hasn't woken up yet since the crash." My voice was hoarse and raspy since I hadn't spoken for a good hour.

"She's gonna be alright. Hailee is one of the strongest girls I've ever seen. She's gonna pull through. And everything I gonna be alright. Mom comforted. I smiled as she pulled up a chair next to mine. I gave her a side hug.

"I'm glad you're here." I told her as she rested her head on my shoulder and rubbed my back in a comforting way.

"I'm here anytime you need me." She said. I love my mom. She's the best mom in the world. I would do anything for her. My two favorite girls. Even if one isn't mentally here, I'm glad to say they are both in the same room. I couldn't ask for anyone better than these two beautiful ladies.

When it became late that night I had told mom to go home and rest. A kind nurse came in and brought me a blanket and pillow to use. I wasn't going anywhere. I want to be here when Hailee wakes up. I sat wrapped up in the blanket with the pillow under my head for support. Trust me, it's hard to sleep in a chair. But I have to. It's better than the cold hard floor. I took Hailee's hand in mine. She was so cold. I lifted her blanket around her and then took her hand again. I played with her fingers for entertainment as I quietly sang to myself. Something I haven't done in a while. I glanced around the room looking for a clock. When I had found one I saw it was already midnight. It was relaxing in the quietness. Except for Hailee's heart monitor everything was silent. I listened to the steady beeping of the monitor until the point where I fell asleep.

"Sir, we are gonna have to ask you to leave the room for a while." A nurse told me minutes after I woke up.

"Why? Is everything okay?" I asked groggily rubbing my eyes. The nurse laughed slightly making me give her a weird look.

"I'm glad to see a boyfriend that really cares around here." She said answering my facial expression. "But yes. She is just fine. We just have to run some tests."

"How long will it take?" I wondered. Maybe I had enough time to run home really quick.

"It will take maybe an hour." She told me. I hesitantly stood up and stretched before I left the room as requested. I shoved my hands in my pocket and made my way to the car. I drove down the road to the house and pulled I to the driveway. I took the keys from the ignition and went inside. Right as I walked in I was bombarded with questions from Stephanie.

"Is she okay? Is she home? Is she hurt?" She asked many questions.

"She's recovering from a coma. That's all I know. That's all the doctors know." I explained. Stephanie's face was full of fear.

"Oh Justin. I can't imagine what you must be feeling." She whispered hugging me.

"I'm gonna go back. I just need to get cleaned up." I said heading to the bedroom, Penny quick on my heals. I petted her briefly before quickly taking a shower. When I finished I threw on my outfit:

I left my hair flat, not bothering to spike it up. I brushed my teeth and then headed back to the hospital. I drove fast, wanting to get back to Hailee. But of course, I had to come behind the slowest driver on planet earth. "Common." I groaned to myself. I looked down at my speedometer seeing we were going 20miles per hour. The speed limit was 50 miles per hour.

"Motherfucker! Go faster!" I yelled honking my horn. Nothing. Not even a tiny bit faster. Eventually, the car turned and I was aloud to go fast again, Mentally thanking the driver. I got to the hospital I parked the car and went inside. I stopped at the food court first, buying some water and breakfast. I headed down the hall to Hailee's room seeing the nurse in front of the front desk I was at yesterday. As I was walking closer she looked at me and stopped me.

"Ah there you are! Hailee just woke up seconds ago. The first thing she said was 'where's Justin?'. And I'm guessing you are Justin. She's waiting for you." She didn't have to continue. I was already running down the hall to my baby's room.
