LOOSING HOPE

SURPRISE

Sanem awoke before Can the next morning. She kept thinking of her parents and she started crying. She hated that her parents were disappointed in her. She loved her parents so much, but she also loved her husband. She could not give up her husband. She just wouldn't survive it. She almost didn't survive it when he sailed away for a year. If they would have gotten married the traditional way, it would never had happened. The last time they were engaged, Huma and Mevkibe made it impossible to marry the traditional way. Her and Can had waited long enough and had been through too much, to wait any longer. It still hurt though. She was a daddy's girl and never wanted to disappoint him. She didn't know what to do. The only thing she did know was she wasn't giving her husband up for anything. Her parents could either accept this marriage or never see her again. Can woke up hearing Sanem crying. He held her and asked if she was OK. Sanem looked at him with sad eyes. She told him she would be OK. She was just thinking about her parents. Can told her it would all work out and to just give it time. She told him it was hard. She never liked it when her parents were disappointed in her. Can asked her how they could be disappointed in her? She was beautiful, smart, funny, practical and had a big heart. She smiled at him and told him thank you. He asked her what she was thanking him for. She said for believing in her, standing up for her and just loving her.

They laid in bed talking for hours. Can always had a way of making her feel better. Sanem thought she would give it a few days and then go see her parents. She was hoping by then they would be calm. Sanem got up from the bed and headed to the bathroom. She got extremely dizzy and fell into the wall. Can jumped up out of bed and ran to her. He asked her if she was OK. Sanem told him yes, but she got very dizzy all of a sudden. Can helped her to the bathroom, where she washed her face and hands. She told him she felt better. She must have got out of bed to quick. Can told her to take it slow until she got her balance back. They went into the kitchen. Sanem wasn't very hungry. She told Can she was just going to eat a piece of toast and drink some tea. He said OK. He told her he wasn't very hungry either. He went and sat in the living area. He kept watching her. He was afraid she would have another dizzy spell. She came in and sat down beside him. She saw him watching her. She told him she was OK, honest. He made her promise to tell him if she started feeling bad again. Sanem promised. He wrapped her in his arms and held her while sitting on the couch. They sat there for a while, just enjoying being close to each other. Sanem jumped up and ran to the bathroom. Can got up and ran after her, calling her name. He found her bent over the toilet. He held her hair while she emptied the contents of her stomach. When she was done, he wiped her face and neck with a cool cloth. He asked her what happened. Sanem said she didn't' know. Her stomach just started rolling. He asked her how long she had felt this way. Sanem told him a few days, but it was only the feeling of being nauseated. She told him she wanted to go lay down for a while. He helped her to bed. He told her he was going to run into town, but he would be right back. He kissed her and told her to get some rest. Can jumped in his truck and headed to the local drug store.

Can arrived at the local drug store and went in looking for some specific. He found it and then went to the counter to pay for it. He got in his truck and headed back home. He found Sanem still sleeping when he arrived home. He bent down and gave her a quick kiss. He went and hid his purchase in the bathroom cabinet. When she woke up, he would show her what he bought. He went outside to breathe some fresh air. He walked around the yard, admiring Sanem's flowers everywhere. He then went to the pier to look out over the sea. He was debating what he would say to Mevkibe and Nihat when he paid them a visit. He had to fix this between Sanem and her parents. He could not stand to have her so upset. She was his wife and no matter what, he would not lose her. He refused to give her up for anything. They just had to see reason and see how happy Sanem was with him. He finally headed back home to check on Sanem.

She was awake when he returned but was still in bed. She was pale and weak. She told him she must have caught some sort of bug because she felt terrible. He asked her if her cycle was late. Sanem thought for a moment and looked at him with wide eyes. She slowly nodded her head yes. Can said come to the bathroom. I bought you something. He helped her up and they walked to the bathroom. He took his purchase out of the bathroom cabinet and handed it to Sanem. She opened the bag and there was a pregnancy test. She just looked at Can. He asked her to please take the test. She said OK. Can stepped out of the bathroom and went and sat on the bed. It seemed like forever. She never returned from the bathroom. He went in to check on her. She was sitting on the side of the bathtub, holding the pregnancy test in her hand. Can looked over at the test and it showed 2 lines. He asked her what that meant. She looked at him and smiled. She told him it meant she was pregnant. Can looked at her in shock and then laughed. He asked seriously. She said yes. He jumped up, picked her up in his arms and swung her around. He kept saying he was going to be a father. He finally put her down after realizing he was swinging her around like a rag doll. He asked her if she was happy. She said I am over the moon. I have always dreamed of being a mother. Now I have the perfect husband and I am giving him a child. My life couldn't be more perfect. She asked him if he was happy. He told her he was more than happy. He was blessed. He married his one and only true love and now they have created a child. He told her he couldn't ask for anything more. Sanem told him she was going to go lay back down for a little while. Can told her he would lay with her. They both climbed into bed and Can put his arms around her. He held her until she fell back to sleep. He then took his hand and rubbed her stomach. He could hardly believe his child was inside there. He fell asleep with his hand on her stomach and a smile on his face.
