It was getting close to Sanem's due date for the triplets. Can went to working half days at the agency so he could be home with Sanem more. He would not leave Sanem alone, so he had different friends and family staying with her until he got home. Today was Leyla and Emre's turn to keep watch over her. Can gave Sanem a kiss, told her he loved her and headed out the door. He told her Leyla and Emre would be there soon. Can got in his truck and headed to the agency. Sanem made her a glass of tea and headed out back. She wanted to stand at the rail and look over Istanbul. It was very beautiful. Can taught her to close her eyes and listen to the sounds of Istanbul. So, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She listened to the different sounds of Istanbul. It was so relaxing. She started to head back into he house to wait for Leyla and Emre. She started up the few cement steps when she lost her footing and fell backwards. Her head hit the cement and then everything went black.
Leyla and Emre arrived about 10 minutes later. They yelled out for Sanem but got no answer. They searched the entire house, but no Sanem. They decided to walk out back, since Sanem loved it back there. They found her laying on the ground unconscious. Her head was bleeding, and it looked like her water had broken. Leyla kept calling her name, but Sanem never responded. Leyla called 911 and Emre called Can. The ambulance was on the way. Can answered on the first ring and immediately asked what was wrong. Emre told him about Sanem and that they called an ambulance. Can told him he would meet them at the hospital. Can raced to his truck and sped to the hospital.
The ambulance arrived and transported Sanem to the hospital. Leyla rode with her and Emre followed. Emre telephoned Sanem's parents and his own father, Aziz. They would all meet them at the hospital. When they arrived at the hospital, they took Sanem straight to the operating room. Due to her being unconscious, they needed to do an emergency c-section. Can arrived but they would not let him into the operating room. So, he waited. He paced. He wrung his hands in worry. He went to the hospital chapel to pray for his Sanem and their babies. He went to the waiting room and still nothing. It seemed like forever when the doctor came out. He told Can and the family that the babies were fine. They were a little early, so they were tiny and weighed less then he would have liked. Can asked about his wife. The doctor told him she was still unconsciousness and she had lost a lot of blood. She had hit the back of her head hard. So, now they would have to wait until she woke up to see if any damage was done. Can asked to see his wife. The doctor said once they move her out of the operating room and into a room of her own, then he could see her. Is was about an hour when the nurse came out and told Can to follow her. She took him to Sanem's room. When Can saw her, the tears fell. She looked so peaceful, like she was asleep. She was pale and looked very fragile. She had a bandage on the back of her head. Can sat down in a chair but moved it close to her bed. He grabbed her hand and placed it on his beard. He told her to please wake up. He needed her. Their babies needed her. He didn't want to go on without his phoenix. He told her to come back to him. He cried silent tears for her. He left the room after a while, so her family could visit her. He went to the nursey to peek at his babies. All 3 were in incubators side by side. One boy and 2 girls. Deniz...Yildiz...Atesh. They both had dreams about their 3 babies. They were finally here, but Sanem was not with them. That broke Can's heart into a million pieces. He went back to be with his wife.
After Sanem's family left the room, Can started to go back in. Mevkibe told Can to go home and get some rest. He needed to eat to keep his strength up. Can said he would not leave his wife. He then entered the room. He laid down beside his wife and held her hand to his face. He talked to her about their beautiful babies. He talked to her about their past. He talked about when he realized he was in love with her. He talked about his memory loss and how she was the one who cured him. He talked to her about everything and nothing. He felt slight movement in her hand that was against his face. But she still would not wake up. He begged her to wake up. He told her she was his half...his heart...his everything. They were supposed to be together until the end of their days. She couldn't leave him now. He needed her more than the air he breathed. He bent over and kissed her temple. He laid there with her for hours. He finally got up and moved around the room. He looked out the window. The nurse came in and told him visiting hours were over. Can told her he wasn't leaving her. She needed him here. She needed to see him when she woke up. The nurse had pity on him, so she let him stay in the room with her. He pulled a chair close to her bed and sat down.
He stayed beside her all night. He held her hand in his. He kissed it from time to time. But she still would not wake up. He fell asleep with his head against her bed and her hand against his face. Can woke up to a hand rubbing his beard. He lifted his hand and looked at Sanem. She was looking back at him with a small smile on her face. She said hello, my husband. He smiled and kissed her hand. He told her, hello, my one and only. Sanem rubbed her stomach and realized the babies were not there anymore. She started to panic. She asked Can where her babies were. She asked if they were OK. Can smiled and told her all 3 babies were fine. They were in the nursery. Sanem asked him what happened. The last thing she remembered was being outside listening to the sounds of Istanbul. Can told her she fell and Leyla and Emre found her. The hospital had to do an emergency c-section since she was unconscious from the fall. But their babies were born fine. Just a little underweight due to being early. She asked him when she could see them. Can told her he would go ask the nurse and let them know she had wakened up. He kissed her and told her he would be right back.
Can found a nurse and told her Sanem was awake and asking to see her babies. The nurse told Can she could see her babies after the doctor checked her over. She would let the doctor know Sanem had awakened. Can said OK. He headed back to be with his wife. He told Sanem what the nurse said and told her to just be patient. Can told her he was so happy she came back to him. He can't breathe without her. He could not go on without her. He told Sanem she was his everything in life. Sanem told him she felt the same way about him. She told him I love you, my albatross.
The doctor came in a short time later to check Sanem over. He told her she gave everyone a scare. He told her she could go look through the nursing window at her babies, but she had to go in a wheelchair. Sanem agreed. The nurse got her a wheelchair and Can pushed her to the nursery window. They stopped at the nursery window and Sanem immediately spotted her babies. Sanem started sobbing loudly. She kept saying she was sorry, my babies. Can squatted down in front of her. He asked her what she had to be sorry about. Sanem told him she did this. If she would have stayed in the house, she would not have fell. Her babies would not have been born so early. They wouldn't look so fragile and helpless now. She continued to sob. Can embraced her and told her this was an accident. It was not her fault. She needed to be strong for their babies. They needed her. He needed her. Can told her they were fine, and they were going home as soon as the doctor released all of them. Sanem calmed down. She told Can she was tired and wanted to go lay down. He pushed her back to her room. Can helped her back into bed. She asked Can if he would lay next to her until she fell asleep. Can told her of course. He put his arm under Sanem's head and with his other hand, he held her hand. He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it. He told her he loved her and called her his beloved. Sanem looked at him and told him she loved him now and for the rest of life. She fell asleep feeling safe and secure in Can's arms.
