Here in England we have an amazing Christmas and New Years tradition called PANTOMIMES, which are amazing and if you don't know what they are you should! And right now we're in the middle of our performances of our pantomime, "Aladdin The Pantomime," so in honour of my first love here is a chapter on Pantomimes. Enjoy!

André: Mama, André is the Dame. No option about it. If your boyfriend were ever offered a role in a pantomime he would jump for the Dame: a man dressed as a woman who's the principal character apart from the principal boy and girl and villain? He would jump right to it - the first time he gets into his Dame gear for the panto advertisements you both laugh in glee at how painted and goofy he looks (as all Dames should). You actually opt out of being in the pantomime this year, and instead get complimentary tickets to come every night and watch André crack constant jokes and recover from falls comedically and hype up the audience amazingly. It's amazing; you think your boyfriend has found a new acting type for himself!

Beck: being the pretty girl who sings, you get the role of Principal Boy this year in the pantomime. But as well as that, the director casts your equally pretty crush Beck as the girl who tries to seduce the Principal Boy! You come across all flustered whenever that one scene where the girl tries to kiss the Principal Boy and every time in rehearsal you ask to not do it in fear of going too far. After a while the director is fine with it but when it comes to tech rehearsals they demand that the scene is played out like it should. Beck smiles at you charmingly and you hold your breath as you pretend to look frozen in shock while he puts his lips on yours in the traditional pantomime kiss - and it feels so right: he kisses like a legend, even when it's a fake kiss and his lips are coated in big red stage lippie. He pulls away and stares at you expectantly, and you stare back in a mixture of confusion and happiness. Everybody has stopped and is staring at you, and the director leans over in their chair and tells you you're supposed to reel back in shock and slap him. You completely forgot! You do as you're directed, still in a bit of a daze, and when you finish your scene and get offstage Beck leans in and apologises for throwing you offcourse. You apologise back, and you both stare at each other for a few seconds until the stage manager calls you back up again for the next scene. You fix your hat and go up the steps and Beck watches you go, a smirk on his face - he finally kissed you!

Cat: in the first Hollywood Arts pantomime Cat is recruited as Head of Makeup, and after she's done in the first tech rehearsal you stand back and think somebody really should have showed her what panto makeup is, because unfortunately Cat had made the Dame up like a clown, which although was a little accurate was also terribly wrong for a pantomime.

Tori: for the first time in her life, Tori was cast as part of a comedy duo whom didn't sing in the pantomime. Needless to say she was panicked: of course, she hasn't ever been in a duo that's just acting and not singing at all;  she has to be totally in sync with the other actor while they're not singing. Each rehearsal her act with the other actor fell totally flat and as time went on she panicked more and more, until one day when you get tired of her missing the obvious and told her that she just has to talk with the other actor and get her head out of singing. She seems bewildered, apparently not even thinking about those possibilities, and promises that she'll try better. You really hope she does: she needs to know that the key to working with others is wanting to get to know them and not spending so much time on herself.

Robbie: although everyone from your friend group including you are part of the cast for the first Hollywood Arts pantomime, Robbie instead volunteers for role of Stage Manager. You watch him as he holds a clipboard with finesse and orders people about in a confidence you never knew he had. He seems to be more himself than he ever was, even with Rex on his arm, and you smile as you watch your friend grow as a person - and who knew all he needed was Stage Manager of a pantomime?

Jade: for the pantomime Jade auditions as the Principal Boy... and ends up with the villain instead. Obviously, she's pissed, and starts on a rampage throughout the school before her boyfriend Beck is able to catch her. She screams at you in a monster-like growl and tries to get at you before Beck restrains her arms, then she storms off. Looking back at her Beck asks what's happened, and you tell him that you got part of Principal Boy. You hear her yells and crashes down the hall and bite your lip - looks like you've lost your friend for a while.
