Even More Jealousy

So I was going through my own writing the other day (because I like to toot my own horn, toot toot bitches) and realised that one of the most popular chapters in this fic I've ever written is one I wrote about jealousy. So I thought, as I'm winding down a bit now, why not revisit some past haunts? 😁

Robbie: (inspired by jadebwells) you were talking to someone else that wasn't him, and poor baby is so besotted with you that he gets really jealous in a sad way and runs off. When you don't see him at lunch with the rest of the gang, you get suspicious and a little worried, so you search high and low around the school until you find him... in the janitor's closet surrounded by equipment that he's using to help him reach the ceiling where he's finger-painting a forest. Honestly didn't see that one coming. You ask him to come down and tell you why he's painting the ceiling of a janitor's closet, and with wet multicoloured fingers he awkwardly admits that he has a crush on you and that he painted the forest to ask you out under it. Granted, he didn't think he would be confronted by you in the middle of it while his hands and face still looked like he had wandered out of a rainbow factory, but you still smile at the adorable gesture and admit you like him too. You then kiss him, to which he falls over from sheer shock into one of the paint pots. Guess he'll have a big green spot on his butt forever now.

Cat: she gets jealous because you tell her you think that Simba from The Lion King is really cute (by the way, have any of you thought that? Cuz so many ppl I know say that but I don't see it, I mean he's a lion, and quite an arrogant one at that too, but potato tomato I guess), and because she doesn't realise that human beings are able to find multiple things cute at the same time she sulks for the rest of the day, ignoring you the same she did to Robbie when he told her his dream of kids eating her, and consoling herself by ordering half a dozen things out of Skystore. On Sinjin's credit card. Oh yes, she's had his pin number since season one; nobody talks about that fact, do they?

Beck: nothing to do with you, it's just that whenever Beck sees Johnny Depp from the 80s and 90s, he gets overly jealous at how gorgeous the moviestar's hair is. Silky brown, floppy, stylish, able to look good long or short or in-between - Depp has everything Beck wants, and because of that you have all been banned from watching anything with Johnny Depp in whenever your friend's around. One day, when you and he are chilling round yours after completing homework, you accidentally put Chocolat on and forget that the film contains late 90s Johnny Depp as a river Roma with his swoon-worthy hair long and pulled back in a loose low ponytail. Beck makes an incomprehensible noise of distress, and you quickly stop the movie before he can go off on a rant about how he's travelled the world of online stores and selected and splashed out for billions of fancy quality haircare, but he still doesn't look as captivating as Depp. But who can? All you can do is stay silent and never watch Donnie Brasco again, which is quite sad because it has the brilliant Al Pacino in.

André: after he gets moved up a class in music - proudly moving an entire year to the older kids, you're jealous yourself - the following lunch he slams himself down onto the bench with all of you and complains that there's another black kid in the class that can do their hair better than he. After a lengthy but very informative and helpful session on how black hairstyles are important in different aspects of black lives and how their styles and meanings behind them date back centuries, you all decide to support your bitter friend and check out this person for yourselves. You creep along to the music hall, where they were last seen, and stick your heads far enough to see them through the window. You don't know why André didn't tell you earlier, but there's a reason why this student can style hair better - they're a girl! Pulling no punches, Jade smacks André lightly upside the head and explains as if he's stupid that girls are generally much better at styling hair because they have more hair than boys and spend a lot of time around other girls that help them learn to do their hair. In fact, this girl looks very nice and friendly; maybe when André has gotten over his hair jealousy, you could invite her into your gang!

Jade: jealous of everything. You can't pinpoint one thing she's jealous about, because she's jealous of everything. As previously mentioned in a recent oneshot, she gets jealous of you talking to Tori, her frenemy for life. She gets jealous if you're partnered up with someone other than her in classes. She gets jealous if you look cooler than her one day. Your head reels when you recount how many times Jade has gotten jealous of something, and one day you can't even remember if she's jealous of the placement of your locker near the water fountain where cute girls drink at, so you dump your stuff in the janitor's closet and pop in and out to collect stuff from your bag throughout the day. At one point you come in the find Robbie balancing on numerous equipment trying to paint the ceiling, but you don't even ask and just slip quietly out the door.

Tori: jealous of Jade. It's not mentioned often, but whenever you talk to Tori about your fiesty friend she gets a glimmer of jealousy tinted across her cheekbones. One day you ask her about it and she admits she's jealous of Jade: her talent, which exceeds her own; her lovely boyfriend Beck, whom she wishes she could've gone futher with than that one kiss that one time; her awesome punky dress sense, whereas every time Tori steps through the door she can't help but wonder if she has no taste at all. After your friend unburdens herself with all this you lightly suggest that perhaps she could ask Jade for help in acting coaching and dress sense. However, when Tori comes back after nearly having her arm bitten off by your friend, you think that maybe she just needs to find her own self.
