Requested by jadebwells - Robbie finds out you are in hospital 😱
Robbie's worried. He hasn't seen you since the first class today, and normally he wouldn't be concerned because you went straight to rehearsals for the production the school's putting on, but he didn't even see you at lunch - and you love lunch.
At the end of his Costume Designing class, he walks with Rex propped up on his hand to the main hall, where rehearsals are today. Throughout the walk, Rex taunts him for caring so much.
"Man, why are you still hung up on this one? It's been months - just move on!""It's different than a crush, Rex, you know it is," Robbie mutters as he enters the main hall to find students packing up sets. They all have sombre faces on, as if they just witnessed the worst rehearsal ever. If they did, why have you not gone to the gang to complain about how it was the worst rehearsal ever? Something just doesn't add up.
"Uh, ma'am?" he pipes up to the teacher, and she turns round and makes an effort to look brightly at him.
"Yes, Robbie?"
He shuffles in his place, still awkward when talking about you at all, and asks, "Please can you tell me where Y/N is?"Everybody in the room pauses in whatever they were doing and stares at him, aghast.
Robbie looks around at everyone, getting more anxious by the second. "What? What happened?"The teacher pushes her glasses further up her nose with a sigh, and replies morosely, "Y/N L/N is in the hospital right now; there was an accident with the overhead lights."
She glances snidely at a student who looks down at the ground in guilt, but Robbie can't think straight anymore. His head starts spinning, and after saying a brief thank you to the teacher sprints out the room and to the reception where he blurts out, "I'm sick, can I leave school?"
The receptionist barely gets a word in before he sprints off outside the school to start driving his bike anyway, leaving behind only a sheaf of papers fluttering to the floor. He even catches his hand on the corner of a paper, causing it to bleed a little in a papercut, but he ignores it. He needs to know if you're okay, no matter what happened between you!
It takes a longer ride than expected for him to arrive at the hospital you went to, and with a red face and Rex stuffed into his backpack to silence him Robbie fixes his bike into the stands and steps into the lobby to ask about you.
"Relation?" the receptionist asks, and he thinks quickly and says quietly,
"Boyfriend?"
She nods with an eyeroll and gestures to the elevator, and with blushing cheeks he enters and presses the button for the right floor.Besides, it was only half a lie, wasn't it?
You'd been trying to focus on your phone and not getting your vision to double in an effort to get better, when you hear Robbie's voice calling you name and snap your head in his direction, only to cry out a little at how much you regret it when your head aches.
Robbie suddenly appears at your side, face expressing sympathy and concern and panic. You lean your head back on the pillows and rest your hand over his.
"I'm okay. Really."
"Really?" he asks nervously, breath catching and cheeks burning, obviously still not over you, and you smile sweetly. Perhaps you're still not over him - you don't know, it's been a pretty long day."Really - it's just a concussion. I just need to rest and take ibuprofen in the hospital."
His face instantly relaxes, and you take the opportunity to tease him a little: "Why would you care so much, Robbie?"His cheeks burn again - man alive, this boy is so pasty - and mumbles,
"You know, just, uh, cuz we're friends, and-"
"And you're still not over the breakup?" you ask in a whisper, and his head pops up.He licks his lips quickly, nervously.
"Are you?"
You reach back to earlier today, when the overhead lights detached and fell on your head: you don't remember much, because naturally people with concussions don't remember much, but you do remember the last thought going through your head was, Where's Robbie to tell me I should've double-checked the rigging with the stagehand and be worried for me?You really don't think you're over him.
You groan, just realising you really aren't. "The doctor said to avoid stressful situations."
"Why would I be stressful?"
"Because I just realised I wanna get back together with you but it's complicated."Robbie licks his lips again and says quietly, "If it helps, I've forgiven you for cheating on me with Beck."
You stare at him, your head hurting when doing it but not caring right now. He... forgives you for sleeping with his friend? Damn, he must really love you.
"I'll do anything to fully make it up to you - seriously," you bargain desperately, to which Robbie's eyes light up along with his bright hopeful smile. You continue, "Anything, really, like uhh, take Rex for a walk or... give you all my cookies! Really, anything. I just realised I wanna give it another shot, so... just please."
You look into each other's eyes, and he slowly leans forward until his soft lips connect with yours.
Suddenly, your concussion doesn't hurt all that much now.
