Shiori has known Maiko since they were teenagers. They had the exact same schedule in high school for all 4 years, including electives. They've been best friends since they were 14. They're extremely close.
Shiori is like a second mom for the Kaneki Kids(trademarked copyrighted). She kept them safe from Jordan, and was the second option for Sayako & Taru to go to when Ernie was under investigation. She'll be there for the kiddos, and if ever one of the kids needs help, she's there. As for her own kids, she's the same. She's spent fortunes on tutors.
Maika met Maiko when they were in their first year of high school. They were in the same homeroom and math class, along with the same period lunch. Maika thought it was funny that their names were basically the same except for the last letter, and they soon became fast friends. Then, Shiori began to /like/ Maika, and thus everyone became closer.
Maika was a second father to the kids, until Tario passed and ended up becoming like a father that wasn't their real father. He helped teach the kids self-defense and gave Hitaru his first makeup palette. He's helped the kids through a lot as well as helped Maiko get a break from things.
Davis and all the kaneki kids have a sibling-type relationship. Sayako will beat the ass of anyone who DARES hurt Davis, and Hitaru shows him random cool things. Honestly, Davis AND Jun are extremely close to the Kaneki kids.
Jun plays a cool sister to both of them. She hangs out with Sayako often, and gives all the clothes/makeup she doesn't like to Hitaru(and sometimes sayako), but also... Watch your back, because she WILL hurt you if you hurt them.
