The first day of school, she was in 4th grade. She walked in and was scared. She had just moved here from America. She had zero friends... She didn't know anyone. She walked to the back of class, near a kid with wavy pink hair.

"Is this seat taken?" She asked, her voice shaking.

"Not yet." The kid responded, looking up and smiling. They sat next to a blonde kid with blue eyes and a cool haircut. And a few other kids sitting around too.

Maddison sat down. "My name is Maddison. My friends call me Maddie. Or they would, if... if I had any."

The pink-haired kid grinned. "My name's Sayako. My friends and family call me Saya. And I'll call you Maddie."

Maddison smiled, "Can I call you Saya?"

"'Course."

Maddison barely held back her grin. She had friends!

------------

Maddie was always the brightest, most happy-go-lucky pastel ball of sunshine anyone had ever met.

And then she met Tristan.

Tristan was cool, he was.... Different.

She thought he was the most interesting boy she'd ever met.

She'd known Sayako for years and years and years, ever since they were born, really, that's how she met Tristan.

Tristan was a family friend of Sayako's, and Maddison came over one day, and was introduced to Tristan.

She fell in love hard and fast.

As she got to know Tristan more and more, he began to corrupt Maddison.

She went from never uttering a cuss word to cussing in every other sentence.

She started dropping in school and caring less.

And Tristan liked it.

That was why Maddie did it. Because maybe, just maybe, he'd like someone like her if she could become like him.

It was weird for Matt specifically.

Coral, Sorrin, Destiny, Jessica, and Sayako were just plain confused as they watched her change.

For Matt it was surreal to watch her.

He watched this precious girl he'd known for years change into a popular girl from an 80's movie.

It wasn't... Normal.

Maddison became more and more like Regina George every day.

She dropped her old friends in favor of popular kids.

She wore makeup and pushed others down to come out on top.

She became drunk with power, she was popular.

People paid attention to her.

It felt...

Weird.

Wrong.

But she brushed it off.

She'd started changing when she was 13. Then, three years later...

She was a different person completely.

She was dating Tristan.

She knew this wasn't who she was.

It wasn't her.

This was some sort of monster that Tristan created,

It finally clicked with her when she was putting makeup over a dark bruise on her face.
