"So, like, are you always this grumpy?"

Sophie snapped out of her daze, glancing up. Keefe was standing over her, a teasing glint in his eyes.

Scowling, Sophie stood from where she'd been polishing her sword in the corner, and started to walk away. To her dismay, Keefe started following her.

"You know, I've met a lot of girls in my lifetime. Like, a lot. But I've never met one like you."

Sophie narrowed her eyes. "Have you ever tried to kill any of them."

"Cmon, are you still mad about that? Forgive and forget, Foster."

"Don't call me that."

"Foster it is!"

Sophie was irritated. He acted like he had a clean record, like he hadn't done anything. And, on top of that, he was teasing her.

"What do you want from me?" she asked through gritted teeth.

"Hmm, not sure. You're fun to annoy though, you know that?"

"Y'know what, forget I said anything. Just go away. Please" she added when Keefe raised an eyebrow at her.

He shrugged. "Fine, but you're missing out."

"Missing out on what?"

"Me, obviously," he said, smirking when she blushed.

He finally turned away from Sophie, but not before he winked at her, making her blush even harder.

This couldn't be happening.

Sophie hated him, she despised him and everything he represented.

So why was her heart beating so fast, and her face tomato red?
