One week later:
To say the girl was shocked was a major understatement.
She was more than shocked.

He had come to the only known Black Swan hideout a few days prior. When he explained his cause, he was taken inside, and his mind was probed. Lady Gisela had prepared him for this, and had shown him how to bury memories under others. All the memories he had to hide were covered up by more memories, like a blanket. It had worked, and the Telepath probing Keefe had given him the all-clear, and taken Keefe to a place called Havenfield, where most of the Black Swan members were training.

The real challenge came when Keefe had to see the girl again. Her eyes widened when she saw him, and although her face didn't betray any emotion, Keefe was an Empath and could feel them.
Her emotions were a mix of anger, outrage, confusion, horror, and disgust.
Keefe had never felt more overwhelmed.
In order to feel the emotions of other elves, Keefe normally had to have some sort of contact with them. But with her, he could pick up her emotions, even from a short distance away. Her emotions seemed stronger than most other elves, and Keefe realized that this was another way she was different.
This was another reason to fear her.
She narrowed her eyes at him, like she knew what he was thinking.
"WHY are he here?"
Before Keefe could come up with some lame retort, the old pudgy dude, Mr. Forkle, Keefe remembered, jumped in. "This is Keefe Sencen. He has decided to join the Black Swan."
The girl toyed with a goblin throwing star, almost casually, as she asked "Why now? He-You," she said looking at him directly, "seemed real dedicated in Vinecore while you were trying to kill me."
"People change, Sophie," Forkle said, softly, and when Sophie turned to look at him, he shook his head gently. The girl--Sophie shrugged and walked away.
Forkle looked at Keefe for a moment, before shaking his head again. "You'll have to excuse her. She doesn't like new people, and doesn't trust others very quickly."
Keefe didn't know how to reply, so he kept his head down, wishing his life wasn't so messed up.
