Sophie tried not to sigh. The Collective had been going on and on like this about Keefe, and it really was driving her crazy. She knew him better than any of them, and she knew that he really was sort of ordinary.
Maybe that had been one of the things she'd liked about him.
They were talking about him like he was a criminal mastermind, an expert manipulator who could turn an elf to the dark side with just a snap of his fingers.
When Sophie knew that all he really cared about was impressing his mom and the rest of the Neverseen.
She shifted her legs when she felt them falling asleep for the third time. This probably was one of the more pointless meetings the Black Swan had.
Sophie thought back to when Keefe had told his mom "You said you weren't going to hurt her."
He had known that Gisela would try and capture her. He had known that she would've been stuck in that miserable prison for life.
He had known that she wouldn't be able to escape.
"Do you agree, Sophie?"
Sophie straightened in her chair, trying to look like she'd been paying attention. "Yes?"
Granite sighed. "You have no idea what we're talking about do you?"
Sophie tried to look as innocent as possible.
Another sigh. "We were asking if you would like come with part of the Collective to the Forbidden Cities."
"Um, but why?"
"That's classified."
Sophie glared at him. "Of course it is."
Tiergan sighed again. "I'm not in the mood for an argument right now. Will you come or not?"
"Fine." Sophie gave in.
"It's settled then. We leave tomorrow."
Everyone was dismissed, and as she left, Sophie now had a new worry on her mind.
