"If you don't make this quick Gethen, I swear you will not see the day again." threatened Lady Gisela.

"You're blaming me?!" Gethen retorted,"Look at your son! He hasn't moved a muscle!"

"Don't bring Keefe into this, you know it's all your fault!"

Both of them were bickering about the technology to the door of the hideout. They needed to fix the security dome before anyone broke in.

Keefe didn't think it mattered, after all, Sophie and him had broken in easily with the dome intact.

But it wasn't like anyone would listen to him.

While Gisela and Gethen continued to yell at each other, Keefe was standing silently in a corner near them. His mother always kept Keefe near her ever since Sophie escaped, probably afraid that he was going to run after her.

Considering how much Gisela yelled at Keefe, she had a good reason to keep him nearby.

Keefe took his spare time to think about ways to escape.

Sure, it was a hopeless wish. There wasn't anywhere for him to go.

But this was the only thing keeping him sane while the Neverseen used him to harm the world.

Even after everything he had done, Keefe's mother still wasn't impressed. He had broken Sophie's heart, as well as hurt himself, and yet still his mother yelled at him, constantly, and didn't show any signs of appreciation.

That wasn't what a mother should be like.

But Keefe hated how easy he was manipulated by his very own mother. She could make him feel guilty about hating her in just a moment, but the next second she would be shouting at him again, listing all the ways he was incompetent.

But it wasn't like he could go back now.

Sophie Foster hated him, and likely, the rest of the the Black Swan hated him as well. He had nowhere else to go.

Nowhere else where he would be wanted.

But was he wanted here?

He was viewed as nothing more than a machine, built to obey Gisela's every order. She didn't treat him with kindness.

Then again, would anyone?
