Chapter 84: Home is Where the Heart is

Ross sits there for a while but gets pulled out of his thoughts when Carmen walks over.
"Kids! Where are y- found ya!"
"Hi, mommy." They both said hugging her legs
"Hey, kids. Here's your ice cream." She says handing two cups of ice cream to the kids "And here's your ice cream" she says handing two cones of ice cream to Rikki and Ross.
"Ooh. Chocolate chip cookie dough" ross squeal "gimme gimme gimme"
"What? Carmen, how'd you know we were here?" Rikki asks
"I saw the kids yell 'AUNTY NORA AUNTY NORA' and then ross was just sitting next to you when I turned around."
"Oh. Okay, then."
They talk for maybe half an hour. Just catching up on how everything's going.
"Hey riks, we gotta get going. Riker just texted me" ross says checking his phone
"Awe. I don't wanna leave."
"It's okay. We'll see you again someday. Besides, the kids are planning on going to one of your east tour concerts." She says smiling at them
Rikki sighs. "Okay. I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too."
"HEY WHAT ARE WE? MELTED ICE CREAM?"
"Come here kids!" She says pulling them into a hug
She kisses their foreheads. "Of course I'll miss my crazy little 6 year olds."
They hug again and ross and Rikki leave.
As they walk past the park entrance, Rikki stops.
Ross sees Mark driving up with the moving truck following behind. Grace walks out of the car, running up to Rikki.
"Cmon Rikki we have to get on the plane so we can head home." Ross urges
"Give her a sec." Grace interrupts
"But..."
"But what riks?" Ross asks
"Never mind. Let's go."
They pile into the car.
"Grace, you're coming aren't you?"
"Well...I....uh?" She stutters as tears build up
Rocky runs out. "What's wrong?"
"Grace. Tell him! Tell him everything." Rikki cuts in
" you know how I'm going to yale?"
"Yeah."
"Well I have to stay in jersey before I go because there are other colleges I'm waiting for a response from"
"So you're not coming?"
She shakes her head.
"B-but." He doesn't finish. He can't find words. He pulls her into a hug. "There has to be something we can do."
"There isn't."
"But I want you at home, with us."
"This is home. Jersey. Where I stayed for my whole life. Where I have soooo many memories that I can't even name them all. It's the place that holds my heart."
"Well Rikki lived here for a long time too." Rocky says
"But her home is in Cali. With you guys."
The lynchs stare at her as she finishes.
"I'll miss you, grace." Rikki pulls her into a hug. "Make sure you visit" she winks
Grace nods taking the envelope from rikki's hands and shoving it in her pocket.
They all hug Grace goodbye and slowly get in the car.
Rocky pulls rikki over "how is the plan supposed to work if she's not with us?"
"It will."

"BYE GRACE!" They yell from down the street
She waves bye; knowing she's not loud enough for them to hear her if she screams. Only a lynch can be that loud.
She walks a few blocks and walks in her house.
"Ready?"
"Will faith get hurt?"
"Only if this doesn't go exactly as planned."
"Then I'm ready."
Grace grabs the keys and they drove off to the airport.
