"What is free time? Free time is time that you have when you are not sleeping, eating, or going to work or in my case school. It's a time to build up hobbies and skills. Most people do nothing with their free time and don't use it the right way. And then they wonder "why do I have no time?". I think it's very clear that we all know that answer."
My parents often encouraged me to pursue whatever I wanted, along with Alexa as well.
Because most of their time was them either hanging out with each other or working, they never had much time to learn any skills or hobbies.
So, whenever we seemed interested in something, they told us to pursue it, no matter how impossible it might seem or how long it will take you to learn that so called "hobby" or "skill".
Also, when it came to scheduling classes, they always looked at the classes my school is offering and encourage me to go out of my comfort zone.
Ever since middle school, I've been teaching myself Japanese. It was a class offered since 6th grade, so I decided to take it. I was surprised when I found out that the high school offers it as well.
And even though I'm not very athletic, I decided to try out for the swim team. I always loved to swim, so they took me in, although I "seem more like a recreational swimmer", but they said that they would teach me to improve my swimming.
I am just finished with my daily swimming as I exit out of the pool. Suddenly, two of the swim team girls come around as I step back onto the ground.
"They let YOU in that doesn't know how to properly swim? You have a pool at home but you don't swim professionally?" One of them said.
"This team is only for Olympic dreamers." The other girl said.
I just laughed at them. They gave me a dirty look.
"Ok, what are you going to do about it?" The first girl scowled.
"Does it look like I care about what you say?" I snapped back gently.
"You look like a garden rat." The second girl said.
"Ok? And? I probably have more confidence than you do. I don't try try like you do." I fixed my ponytail.
"You BISH!" The first girl pushed me and I fell into the water.
I pulled myself up.
"Hey, I might not be a good swimmer, but I can swim." I said to the two girls that turned at me.
"Whatever."
I just realized that everybody's bathing suit has their name written sideways in cursive. The red bathing suit is also my school's color as well.
The girl who pushed me is "Laura Benjy" and her friend is "Madison Harrison". Mine just says "Katherine Richardsons".
I change back into my regular clothes in the locker room and close my locker. I see the two girls looking at the list, very obvious that they are trying to find me. I decide to snoop, because why the heck not?
"Oh my god, Laura. Katherine Richardsons? She's a freshman?"
"I know, Madison. She's quite tall for her age."
"Wait a second, doesn't her last name seem familiar?"
"Richardsons? Isn't that the CEO of Broïsé?"
Oh no.
I don't want anybody finding out that I am the daughter of one of the most powerful businesses in the world. I didn't want to hear anymore, so I left the room as quickly as possible.
When the end of the day came along, my phone buzzed in my pocket.
Alexa
I am going to the gym with my friends. Ask one of your friends for a ride or learn to drive yourself.Jeez Alexa, why you got to be so rude?
I met Adrian and Cassie at the school library.
While we were picking out books, one caught my eye.
"The Glimmer Woods Book XIV: The Aqua Waters."
Sweet, I thought they would never have this series.
I sit down with Adrian and Cassie as we start to read our books and talk about our days.
"I had a plane geometry test today. I so failed it today." Cassie was in a bad mood.
"I got called a "weeb" because my sweatshirt has a cat on it." Adrian showed us his sweater, and Nyan Cat was on his sweater. I let out a little giggle.
Adrian flashed a smile at me and seemed to be looking into my eyes like bottomless pits. To be honest, I've never been stared like this ever.
"What about you? You seem a little bit out of it." Cassie suddenly brought me to my senses.
"Two girls on the swim team pushed me into the pool." I said coolly.
"What?"
"It's nothing. I'm fine. No bones were broken. Nothing much to worry about."
"There's a bruise on your arm." Adrian held up my arm.
"I hit the wall." I said.
It's true, I got that bruise earlier this month, definitely nothing to worry about.
Or actually, I don't really remember, that's the thing. Maybe I hit something while swimming. Nobody ever hits me, so I probably got a bruise while swimming.
"Well, my sister ditched me again to go to the gym and she told me that I need to get a ride or drive myself home. I can just walk." I sighed.
"Alexa is so obsessed with going to the gym." Cassie added.
Tell me about it.
"My house is only like a 5 minute walk. Do you guys want to go?" I asked them.
They both nodded.
We closed our books and put them back before grabbing all of our stuff and heading out.
I could've took the bus, but people would know where I live, and seeing the bus pull up to a mansion would be strange.
Unless you are my best friend like Cassie or Adrian, I don't tell you where I live. I would rather hang out at their house than mine. It's just a personal preference.
