"So, no matter how smart you are, in a few days, we will all have to take the SSAT?" Adrian asked.
"Unfortunately." I sighed.
"Hey, I was actually planning on having a study session tonight. Snacks are included." Adrian just threw at us.
"Oh, I can't. I heard that there is supposed to be a terrible blizzard." Cassie said passively.
"Cassie, it's May. There's no such thing as snow in May, at least here I think. It hasn't snowed in like 30 years right here." I tapped her shoulder.
"And even if it didn't snow, my family would rather have me study with my twin brother, so I'm sorry, but I can't make it."
"That's fine. So, it's just you, Kat?"
I nodded.
"Ok, well, I'll see you later."
And that's when we went our separate ways.
Until the end of the day, when I walked to Adrian's house. There seemed to be a small flurry, but that didn't bother me as snow flurries can happen in May.
I knocked on Adrian's door and he opened it, a smile came across his face the moment he opened the door.
"Kat! I thought you wouldn't show up!"
"It's not me without me always being able to show up!"
We walked in together and he let out a little giggle.
"So, where do you want to study? We have the living room, my room, the basement, kitchen, I don't know? Ugh, I don't know what to say."
"Kat!"
Adrian'a grandmother emerged from the kitchen.
"Did you bring her over to study? Aww, she gets cuter by the second."
Adrian blushed.
"Grandma...."
She winked and strutted into the kitchen.
"Don't mind her, she can be herself."
I giggled.
"I can tell."
We laid all of our stuff down in the living room, there was light music coming from a stereo and we went over flash cards and read each other's notes.
It was about 30 minutes until we heard some wind and Adrian's grandmother turned on the TV.
"Currently in Bristol County, there is an unexpected snow gust passing through, it is very thick and seems to go on for hours. This is the first time that anything like this has happened shine 1982. And in May! The snow will be estimated to be 38 inches, and will not melt for a little while. So for all of you at home or out, it is probably too late to get back home or go out."
Adrian's grandmother looked at me.
"Kat, dear, do you mind calling your mother and letting her know that you will be staying with us for the night? I'm sure that she won't mind."
I nodded.
I went into another room and called mom.
"Well, please don't get hurt. I will pick you up as soon as this snow melts. Ok, please get your basics from them and I don't know what else. Please be safe. I love you."
Well, this is awkward.
Adrian's mom was stuck at work, which left Adrian, his grandmother, and me.
Adrian's grandmother was in a full panic, and apologizing to me about everything. After that, she went into the kitchen and started rambling on about fettuccini.
"When she rambled about dinner, that means that we're having that for dinner." Adrian whispered in my ear.
When he whispers in my ear, I felt something.
We went back to studying until about 30 minutes later, when dinner was served.
Grandma's homemade fettuccine with pesto sauce and pepperoni bread, which was at the taste of it, some of the best homemade pasta that I ever had. We talked about all sorts of things, and Adrian's grandma would not hesitate on telling many embarrassing little stories about him. He would get so flustered but then whip it off.
We helped with dishes once dinner was done and after that, Adrian showed his grandma and I how he can play the piano. He played a few songs and by that time, his grandmother was tired, it was only 7:30 at night.
He excused himself and took his grandmother to bed, by holding her hand and making sure that she does not slip. Adrian really has a heart.
Once she was put to bed, Adrian and I decided to study upstairs, in his room.
His room was at the foot of the staircase and it was a very roomy room. Simple, but a place to sleep.
We went on the floor and laid out all of all note cards and quizzed each other until about 10 at night.
That's when I started getting tired and Adrian lended me a baggy pair of sweatpants, an oversized t shirt, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a washcloth. I went into a bathroom and changed. The shirt smelled like driftwood and kind of like Adrian. I looked in the mirror and wondered if it looked weird or revealing at all.
Once I entered the room, I saw Adrian becoming extra shy.
"What? Is it that bad?"
"No, I just thought that you wouldn't look like a styling chick."
That's when he laughed on his bed.
"Other then that? We have some studying to do."
I don't really remember anything other than that.
Wait, I remember something.
I guess I was so tired that I fell asleep on a coffee table in the corner, and I felt a weird sensation, like I was being picked up in my dream or something like that.
