"What a lovely morning it is today, the first day of December. Even as the months change, in new Bedford, you can feel the temperature changing right when the month begins. Then again, I live in the new England section of America, on the northeast side if you didn't know. Winter is coming, and 2018 will soon come to an end. "
I woke up on that Saturday morning feeling a somewhat cooler breeze outside of my window. I snuggled under the covers more as the breeze turned into a weak wind. My time in the Autumn House will be up for the year on the first day of winter, but I won't be mad. It will be Alexa who will be mad.
Going down the stairs, I see mom at the stove, making scrambled eggs.
"You're surly up early, Kat."
"Good morning, mom." I said
'let me guess, you felt the first chill of December? You could probably tell how intense a chill is that will be the winter this year. Colder than usual, i see."
"Well, yeah."
I look at the clock in the kitchen: 7:38am. Wow, I normally sleep until 9.
"Dad's sleeping in today, and Alexa decided that she wanted to go on an early morning run. That girl, I get that she loves to excersise, but jeez, when she's not with friends or at school or whatever, she's working out. Does she even do her homework."
"You should check her grades." I scoffed.
Alexa doesn't apply herself in school, back in middle school, she used to make boys do her homework for her in exchange for her phone number or a kiss. Mom found out and Alexa was banned from attending one of two middle school dances of the year. I don't know if she even does her homework now.
Deep down inside, Alexa is crazy, not psycho level crazy, but she's done some odd things, when she doesn't get her way or if something doesn't go as planned, she freaks out. Not like your normal screaming, but not violent.
Maybe that's the reason why Mom and dad let her do what she wants, but that's not right.
But that's not the topic that we're focusing on (for now at least)
I went to my computer and put up the Seaside Stories chapter that I was working on. Right now, I am on Chapter 10, a chapter that seems like there is no purpose at all.
Am I a middle character? I thought as I wrote the story and the chapter. Maybe I'm just like a chapter in the middle of the book that drags on and on and on until their is no end. However, it makes you appreciate the ending more, bad or good, and predictable or unpredictable.
The screen seems so bright the more I write about it.
She's just a college student, a girl with dreams bigger than her wallet. She studies online constantly, and lives in a small house, right behind a salon. In a way, she is forgotten. Just like nobody knew she existed. Even when she walks out on the town, people will assume that she is a tourist. Is it because she is only a first year? No. Is it because she's not a social butterfly? No. The reason is unclear, sometimes even she does not know what her dreams are. That's how lost she is.
Her dream has been shattered and mended for years, a buildup of her confidence soon shattered down by the negative signs and the hatred from others. That's why she's in this town, to make a new path in her life, connecting to the same dream.
She left her old life of torture and pain behind and moved to an entirely different part of the world. Somewhere that even she doesn't recognize. Just to hope that nobody will ever remember her ever again. She's been through it all, and even at such a young age. A family that resented her, friends that would later forget her, filler boyfriends that would mean nothing to her. Once she bought her ticket, she went on the plane and never looked back.
This is the life that 19 year old, Natalie Ramsey has lived. Now on her own, she lives in a small house in the back of town, in back of the town's salons. Natalie is used to living in the shadows, it's the only thing that she has ever known of her past life.
Natalie always pushes herself to achieve her dream, which is a mystery. When her dream seems foggy and impossible to reach, she forgets all about it and she forgets her identity. When she's happy, the dream comes out as if it is the sunshine in the sky after a long, cold, rainy day. At last, the sun beats down on her skin as she dances along the field of daisies, hoping for a new and forever start.
It's not always a sunny day in a flower field, most days can be like climbing a mountain during a blizzard or a flood slowly taking away everything that you owned. Of course, she does not want to go back, but even if she did, the consequences she would face would cause her several different degrees of pain.
Even though everyday is a day mixed with pain and sadness, Natalie would rather be alone than with people that paid no mind to her emotions. At least here, somebody will listen to her calls, even if it's just the moon or the stars or a stray cat or dog roaming around the streets at night. Maybe one day, she will get comfortable with loving others, and opening her heart more and more to others. But, for now, she must learn to love herself first and put herself above all else. In a life that never went sweet, the world will, sooner or later turn up for Natalie Ramsey, a girl with a passionate heart but a clouded dream.
