"I've been so caught up in writing lately that I forgot that I have a social life. Ok, it's bad. But, writing Seaside Stories is my main priority. In the end, I end up multitasking with my friends on FaceTime while doing homework AND writing this story. I just-..."

BZZZZZ!

My phone buzzed and I turned my camera off. I saw who it was from.

Adrian
I'm holding a birthday party for myself on November 21st. Let me know if you can come :-)

What day is it even? I look at my paper calendar and notice that it's the 20th today. Of course, Adrian is always a last minute kind of guy, not like there's anything really wrong with that ;).

I didn't even buy him a present, and mom would probably yell at me for "forgetting" Adrian's birthday party. And it's probably unlikely that Alexa would drive me somewhere or there is the possibility of same day shipping, but you never know with that.

Also because we had a quarterly exam and teachers assume that we don't have emotions and give us ridiculous amounts of work and tell us that we've gotten "lazier" as students. No, we're just more open about our opinions and emotions.

I went on my computer and went to kawaiination.com.

The first thing I did was search up cat.

if you didn't know, Adrian loves cats. He really wants a cat, but his mother and grandmother are both allergic. I don't have pets either, I'm surprised that Alexa never asked for one. but, my family is too busy to raise a puppy or a kitten anyways. Mom and dad are always working, Alexa and I have school, we could hire a pet sitter, but mom and dad only use maids to clean the house after every season.

There was a long sleeve shirt that caught my eye. It had a grey cat meme on it. I purchased it, looked for shipping by tomorrow and plugged in my credit card information. Normally, i don't online shop. You probably know why.

The package came at my door the next morning. Just before school was about to start, i bagged the shirt and had a card that i wrote in the middle of the night, I read it one last time to myself.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADRIAN!

You are finally 15 years old. (well, you've been since the 4th). To be honest, i wrapped up this gift last minute and used all of my love and appreciation to make it. Thank you for brightening up my days and being my friend since middle school. i don't know what i would do without you. You light up every day, even when i'm sad or stressed, you're always there.

Your Friend,

Kat

I kind of freak out while reading it. Do my feelings sound too obvious? no, don't think those things, Kat. Jesus Christ, brain voice, you are so embarrassing.

I felt my face grow red just as Alexa walked by.

"Come on you slowpoke... Wait a second, is your face red?"

Fiddlesticks, flosh, flush, fudge.

"what are you talking about?" I pretended to be naive and stupid, hoping that she wouldn't notice.

"Come on. Your face is as red as a beet. Who's card are you reading? Did you get a love letter?" Alexa teased me. I refused to show her.

"You only assume that i like girls because i have the skin care regime of a hobo."

She laughed at me.

"You're so funny!"

It wasn't mean't to be a joke.

After school, Cassie, Adrian, and I went to his house to celebrate his birthday party.

Adrian only invited the two of us because we are his closest friends (aka his only friends that he's comfortable with). Adrian can be socially awkward at times.

"KAT! CASS!"

Adrian's grandmother was sitting in the living room.

"Hi, Nanny." I smiled at her.

Adrian lives with his mother and grandmother. His mother is always working, so Adrian's grandmother ended up raising him. That's why they have such a wonderful relationship.

Adrian is kind, compassionate, shy, and a little bit of a softie. He's just like his grandmother.

"Oh! That reminds me. You guys wanted pizza, right? We can make one from scratch!"

We cheered at the thought of that.

Nanny led us into the kitchen and gave us all aprons. She and Adrian started taking out all of the ingredients and Adrian put an apron on.

"I once went on a trip to Italy when I was 18. I learned how to make all sorts of Italian cuisines."

First was making the dough. We mixed flour, egg, wheat, and yeast together. After that, we mixed everything together and a dough started to form. Nanny started to act like a radio and sing songs from the "1900's" which in reality was the 1950's-1990's.

Cassie and I were in charge of making the sauce. We crushed tomatoes, added water and olive oil, and some spices in and mixed until our hands could fall off.

Nanny got some shredded mozzarella from a bag and we looked at her.

"What? Do you expect us to make our own cheese? We don't have cows here."

Nanny is honest but comical.

Adrian tossed the dough and almost hit Cassie in the face with the dough. By that point, we were laughing out stresses away.

Once the dough formed, Nanny folded it and I put sauce on the pizza. Cassie sprinkled the cheese. It looked so massive.

Nanny had the oven preheating and put it in. We waited about 15 minutes until an alarm buzzed.

The pizza was taken out of the oven and it cooled for 5 minutes before we all got a slice.

"Wait!"

Nanny stopped us and cut a slice for Adrian. She put a candle in his slice and started singing happy birthday. We joined in as well.

Adrian smiled and blew the candle out.

Happy Birthday to Adrian, even though you were born on November 4th.
