Dazai was extremely joyous the entire way back to the Armed Detective Agency building, he was literally skipping through the streets as he held your hand the whole time; swinging your intertwined hands back and forth. The two of you crossed the road, and he smiled at every single person who passed by. He was happy. He didn't even think that he was walking right now. It felt like he was in a beautiful dream, and if he suddenly began to sing and dance, then he wouldn't at all be surprised if all the strangers had gotten in line and followed along. He had such a magical day with you, despite doing something so damn simple.
When you got back into the building, it seemed quite empty. You realised that everyone was probably either in bed, or working late in their offices. You didn't want to disrupt anyone, and so you immediately grabbed Dazai's hand and dragged him down the elongated hallway with you—lugging with you the massive cardboard box with your brand new bed frame inside. You desperately wanted to set it up tonight because you weren't a fan of sleeping on just a mattress anymore.
Quietly, the two of you had entered your bedroom, before you shut the door behind you and set down the heavy cardboard box on the floor. Dazai looked around your bedroom. It seemed so empty now that there was no bed or mattress, but he knew that this empty space was soon going to be filled with your large bed. Your room was always clean, and the delicious aroma of vanilla emanating from the candles on your dressing table wafted through the air. He felt at ease and cosy. It was a strange feeling. He felt so warm inside, like the kind of warmth one would only ever feel on Christmas Day, sat in front of the fireplace wearing fuzzy socks and drinking a cup of steaming hot chocolate with marshmallows; that kind of warmth was addicting, it made Dazai constantly want to be around you.
You ripped open the box with a small knife, before shaking the cardboard box and watching as all the parts of the bed that needed to be assembled fell out one by one, clinking on the ground. You kneeled down on the floor, grabbing the hair tie that was on your wrist and tying your hair back into a low ponytail, tucking any loose strands of hair falling over your face behind your ear. You looked up at Dazai with a determined expression plastered on your face, smiling wryly. "Are you ready?"
Dazai looked back at you, a wild smirk painted across his luscious lips, mirroring your expression. He too, was kneeling on the ground. He slowly rolled his neck, before rolling up his sleeves, his expression illustrating that he was currently in business mode, just like you were. It was like the two of you were getting ready to fight on the battlefield or something; it made you feel strangely excited, even though all you were really doing was assembling a bed. In actuality, it was nothing special.
