The 2nd of June saw the release of Queen's twelfth studio album 'A Kind of Magic' and four days later they off on tour.
Queen has their first show tonight for the Magic tour in Stockholm, Sweden and this will be Amelia's first time on a plane.
Amelia is surprisingly calm as they are escorted through the airport. She is settled on Freddie's hip, teddy under her arm, taking in sights around them and the noise of the busy people, tannoys and planes. She doesn't like the sound of the planes flying over but she doesn't scream or cry she just puts her hands over her ears.
They have a twenty-minute wait before they can board the plane so once their in the waiting area Jim takes her from Freddie for a bit, wandering over to the window where they can see the runaway.
He points out the different things that can be seen, "See that's an aeroplane," He points to it she watches the plane take off, "Plane?" she points to the flying object herself, "Yes darling aeroplane," He smiles kissing her cheek.
Kisses on the cheek have become Amelia favourite thing, she loves them especially from Jim or Freddie, they think it's because their moustache tickles her skin. But she likes giving them too.
Over the last few weeks, her personality has started to shine through, she's a very affectionate child and has a very stronger bond to Brian but an even stronger one to Freddie.
She's also started noticing the cats a lot more and although most of them stay clear of her grabbing hands, Jerry and Romeo love her and are always following her.
When they board the plane Amelia sits between Freddie and Jim. Freddie checks she is buckled in properly smiling when she puts her tiny hand in his, "There's no need to be scared sweetheart," he brushes some hair behind her ear.
The plane starts moving, picking up speed quickly before taking off, Amelia clutches her bear tightly with on hand and the other is squeezing Freddie's fingers, "Your safe darling," he reassures her.
As the plane levels off, her grip relaxes, "Do you want to look out the window," Jim asks her when the seatbelt light turns off. She hesitates at first but eventually, curiosity gets the better of her and she nods.
She climbs onto his lap, tentatively looking out the window until she sees the clouds going by and pushes her hands against the window, "Wow" she breathes, "Clouds Dada!"
"If you ask Uncle Brian I'm sure he can tell you all about them," Freddie chuckles looking over his seat at the eagerly nodding guitarist. Amelia loves to listen to Brian's stories and is the only person that won't tell him to shut up.
Jim lefts her over the seat and she settles in Brian's lap listening to his fountain of knowledge.
------
Freddie, John, Roger and Brian go straight to the venue when they arrive in Stockholm but Jim takes Amelia back to the hotel for a nap, promising that he will bring her to the venue later for the concert.
After eating and changing her into her Magic Tour t-shirts, Jim and Amelia head for the venue. When they arrive at the dressing room the four are each going through their warm-up routines, dressed and ready to go, "Your late," Freddie states.
"Yes well someone wouldn't put her shoes on," Jim looks at the giggling girl on his hip. Putting her on the ground she grabs onto the sofa toddling towards Brian.
She only started walking last week but she's learning quickly and when she's on a roll she can move quickly. After a while of toddling around the room, she gets tried and Freddie puts her in the makeshift playpen.
When the band go on stage, Phoebe agrees to watch over Amelia in the dressing so Jim can watch from the side of the stage. The crowd goes crazy is the squeal of Brian guitar fills the stadium for One Vision.
Like always they play song after song the audience singing along with them, Freddie is glad that Amelia is in the dressing room because the volume would be too much for her little ears.
Amelia, however, has other ideas. Bored of her toys she stands up in the playpen and looks around the room. Phoebe who's meant to be watching her has fallen asleep on the sofa, snoring away.
She can hear the music and wants to find out where it is coming from. The advantage of being able to walk means she can climb too. She manages to climb over the side of the playpen and onto the floor not forgetting teddy of course. Crawling towards the open door.
By the time she reaches the side of the stage Queen are halfway through their set coming towards the end of Now I'm Here.
No one noticed her until she pulled herself to her feet and toddles past Jim onto the stage teddy in hand. Jim doesn't get the chance to stop her.
The four band members didn't notice her until the fans in the audience stop singing along and point to the back of the stage.
"What are you all pointing at?" Freddie frowns at the audience. John is the first to see Amelia when she toddles past him over to the drum rise for something to hold onto.
Roger has stopped playing at this point just staring wide-eyed at the little girl, thankfully for her hearing or it would be no more.
Brian taps Freddie's shoulder pointing to Amelia, "Oh well this is new darlings," the singer muses trying to take it in his stride.
He lifts her onto his hip, "seems my daughter is here to steal the limelight, she sure takes after me. Well her timings good anyway, I think I'll keep her here for this next song."
He sets her down on top of the piano, "This is called Love of my life," the audience awes.
'Love of my life, you've hurt me
You've broken my heart
And now you leave me
Love of my life, can't you see?'
The audience as always joins in and on the second verse Freddie taps Amelia's nose singing the lyrics, 'You've stolen my heart' to her.
He holds her on his hip again when the song finishes, "Thank you darlings, excuse me for a moment while I return this little escape artist to where she is meant to be." He hands the mic to the stagehand.
Phoebe races to the side of the stage having just woke up to find the playpen empty, "Shoot, I'm so sorry Freddie. I fell asleep but I didn't think she would climb out the playpen."
Freddie hums, "Well lucky for you the audience loved it and I'm sure it will be all over the papers by morning. Can we try not to let it happen again?" Jim takes Amelia from him and Freddie goes back on stage.
------
Amelia is back in the dressing room in her playpen under the watchful eye of Jim when the band finishes, "Well that was eventful," John laughs coming back into the dressing room.
"You little monster," Roger grins tickling Amelia's tummy.
Freddie kisses her cheek before getting undressed, "You just wanted to be part of the fun didn't you sweetheart."
"You watch out Rog, she was coming for your drum set. Maybe she's trying to replace you?" Brian teases, "On the bright side though, she walked all the way from the side of the stage to the drum rises unaided."
"Yes, that is why she's not in trouble. Just don't do it again," Freddie tells her in a warning voice taking her from the playpen, Amelia kisses her dad's cheek and he sighs, "How am I meant to tell you off when you do that, hum? Come on, let's go. It's bedtime for you, Missy."
