Chapter 68

You stood outside as you waited for Iggy to finish.

You smelt cig smoke as you turned to see Jotaro standing next to you, wearing his jacket & a cig hanging from his lips.

He held his arm out to you as he looked at, "May I?"

You nodded as he slowly wrapped his arms around your shoulder, cautious like.

Jotaro used his other hand to gently grab his cig & blew the smoke out.

Silence grew between you both as Iggy was burying his mess & sniffing around.

"Hey..."

You looked at Jotaro as he kept looking ahead. He had a look of sorrow upon his face. He took in another inhale of the grey smoke as he exhales it out into the cold air.

"I'm sorry."

You blinked as he kept proceeding, "I won't touch you unless I ask or you tell me, okay?"

Your eyes stung as tears began to mess with your vision. You looked down to hide them as you bit your lip, "N- no, it's okay... I don't want to be a burden to you."

His voice was stern as he let out an annoyed grunt, "You're not a burden. Don't ever fucking say that ever again."

You thinned your lips as you whispered out a sorry. You felt his warm, strong hands gently caress your face, moving it to face his, "Don't say sorry. You've done nothing wrong. I should be the one to say sorry... I-"

Your eyes widened as you saw tears in his eyes forming. His ocean blues were being filled as a tear slid down his chiseled cheek, "I didn't protect you when you needed me the most."

You placed a hand on top of his as you shook your head, "No, you've protected me, Jotaro. You've done so much for me, you don't understand how much you've done for me..."

Your own tears were sliding down your chubby cheeks as you sniffed, your voice waving & cracking along the way, "I love you so much... If it wasn't for you & the others, I would've been in a lifetime of horror.. thank you... Thank you so much..."

He sniffed as he wiped your tears away, his soon coming to a stop. He's the type to never show his emotions. Hell, he even hated to express them in front of others.

But you... You were different.

He slowly pulled you into a hug, placing a hand on the back of your head as he held you close.

"I love you so much more, (y/n)..."

You heard a bark as you looked down, seeing Iggy wag his tail as you smiled & held your arms open for Iggy to jump into.

Iggy leaped into your arms as you hugged him, "We love you, too, Iggy."

Jotaro huffed as he held you closer, "Yeah, whatever."

You both walked back inside the hotel & into your room.

You slid back into bed as Jotaro held you close once more, iggy sleeping in between you both.

The word fear wasn't there for the rest of the night, neither the nightmares. But you're a long way to come from healing.
