Pointless. You didn't even want to go but somehow Luke was making you, the 19th birthday of Michael Clifford. Luke knew how much you disliked Michael, you always had. He was arrogant, cocky and he disliked you just as much as you disliked him.

"Luke cmon I really don't want to go!" You whined as you pulled on a pair of jeans.

"Y/N just get over it, he's one of my best friends we have to go."

"No. You have to go. Technically I don't have to do anything."

"Please, babe? For me?" He pouted, poking out his lip ring into the pout he knew you couldn't resist.

"Fine! But I'm not speaking to Michael or wishing him a happy birthday." You said determinedly.

"Deal." Luke sighed, clearly not bothering to push the point.

It didn't take long to get ready, no point lookin your absolute best if you didn't care about what the host thought of you so you ended up settling on light eyeliner and a loose ponytail. "Babe are you ready yet?" Luke called from downstairs as you shouted a quick yes back before dashing off to join him. His face fell a little as he took you in.

"Could've made more of an effort Y/N." Luke sighed, his words stung.

"What do you mean?" You asked.

"You could've tried to look a little nicer, you might not like Michael but at least act like you do." You narrowed your eyes bitterly at Luke before storming past him, making sure to shove roughly into his shoulder as you went past and smiling a little in pride as you climbed into the passenger of the car. A few seconds later you were joined by a pissed off looking Luke, who didn't say a word as he got in, he forcefully flicked the button on the car radio and the voice of Stevie Nicks filled the car, taking over from the awkward silence.

Michaels party was just as you'd expected, loud blaring music and an endless sea of sweaty, grinding idiots. Michael was playing Sum 41 at least, which easened the pain. You pushed your way through the people to the nearest available empty corner before grabbing a plastic cup, filling it with a bottle of alcohol and downing it. Luke disappeared amongst the masses, leaving you on your own.

After fourty five minutes of standing around and attempting to make conversation with the dimwits Michael was friends with you decided it was time to find Luke. The alcohol hadn't had much of an effect and you were getting more irritated by the second as countless hands grabbed onto you, trying to pull you into the crowd of grinding dumbasses. You pulled your wrist out of the clutches of a curly haired boy and stormed into the kitchen where you found Michael who was on his knees chugging down beer from a beer pong and being cheered on by a group of boys. He stood up when he saw you enter the room and proudly wiped his mouth with his sleeve before letting out a loud burp. "Well hello Y/N, to what do I owe this pleasure?" He grinned.

"Cut the crap Michael, where's Luke?" You said in annoyance.

"Luke? He's er... He's, well he's um..." Michael stumbled over his words.

"Spit it out, Clifford! I don't have all day!"

"He went upstairs..." Michael said guiltily and instantly you got the feeling he was covering for Luke. Something was wrong. You gave Michael one last glare before heading back out of the overcrowded kitchen and shoving through the shameful parade of dancing people. You stamped forcefully up the stairs, each step losing energy. What if Luke was up here with a girl? No. Luke would never do that... Upstairs was much less crowded, only a few random people scattered about as you made your way to the first door you saw. Eyes squeezed shut you pushed it open only to find a bathroom, an empty bathroom. You sighed a little in relief before closing the door and walking up the hall to the next door. There was a clutter inside like somebody had dropped something which meant there were people in here. You held your breathe as you pushed open the door.

And there he was, Luke. Wrapped in the arms of a red headed girl as he kissed her neck and she pulled on his hair. They both jumped apart at the sound of the door and Luke's face immediately dropped. "Y/N..." He started.

"Don't bother Luke. Just don't.."

"I can explain."

"Explain?" You spat, anger soaring through your body. "Explain what? Explain why you're in here with some tramp?"

"Baby please..."

"Don't you dare call me that! How could you Luke?" All your anger seemed to disappear and was only replaced by hurt and sadness, you pulled your hand to your chest as you felt tears well up.

"I'm sorry..." He said sadly, dropping his head in shame.

"Forget it. We're over Luke." You choked out as the tears began to fall and you quickly backed out of the room, dashing down the stairs and running outside.

You sat silently, the only sound being your sobs as the scene ran through in your head. He'd broken your heart. There was a light patter of footsteps and you looked up, expecting to see Luke but being greeted by Michael. He sat down next to you and put his arm around your shoulders. "I'm sorry, Y/N." He said quietly. Despite the fact that you usually hated Michael, you let him comfort you and turned to sob into his shoulder. After a few minutes of crying you pulled away.

"I thought we hated each other." You sniffed and Michael smiled.

"We do. But I know what its like to have your heart broken by someone you love." He smiled again, this time sadly. "Plus, you needed a friend and I doubt anyone in there cares enough. Cmon, I'll call you a taxi and you can go home." He offered and you gratefully accepted.
