Being with Ashton was great, every single problem seemed meaningless and he was the most amazing friend a person could ask for. He was always there whether it was mid afternoon or four am, if you called he would show up, with a burger and a bottle of wine and he would sit and talk about anything you asked. Friends like this didn't come around often.

Now here you were, needing him once again. It was 10pm and you were stressing out to the brink because you had a hefty assignment due in in two days and you hadn't even started yet so as per usual you'd sent Ashton a rushed text and he'd replied quickly with the promise of coming over to help.

Fifteen minutes later the buzzer sounded and after buzzing him in Ashton walked in holding a plastic bag with Chinese food and carrying a bottle of Prosecco. "Hey babe, I brought food!" He chirped, handing you the bag of food, the warmth radiating from it. You smiled gratefully.

"Ash! You really are the best! I'm so lucky to have a friend like you!" You gushed, giving him a quick hug. His smile faltered a little but he regained composure quickly, you frowned to yourself, confused.

"So what's the big problem?" He asked, striding into the living room and sitting in front of your open laptop. "Ah, okay." He nodded to himself as he read through your assignment. "Okay, well you're over thinking it. You've just got to say how Freud has changed modern practises in a childcare setting. I don't even take childcare and even I know that much. Just take it slow, read your notes, have some food and you'll feel much better." Ashton smiled warmly, he had this way where he could just make you feel better about anything by just being there.

Now that your mind was put at ease you took a seat next to Ashton, not hesitating in digging straight in to the Chinese food and launching into a full blown explanation about your day. "So basically, I don't know if he likes me you know, he says he does but the breaks up with me and then he's on some other girl?" You ranted in frustration as Ashton nodded dutifully, looking uninterested. "God, Ash, I wish he was more like you. Why can't I date a boy like you? Why don't boys like me?" You whined, taking a large forkful of rice into your mouth before washing it down with a large gulp of Prosecco.

Suddenly there was a loud bang as Ashton slammed his glass down on the table, sending a few loose object on the table flying. "I can't listen to this anymore Y/N!" He shouted, standing up and walking to the opposite side of the room, grabbing at his hair in a desperate frustration. "Constantly whining and complaining about your boyfriend! To me! And I sit there and I listen for you and you never realise! When you gonna realise?" He groaned, balling up his fists.

"Ashton what the hell are you talking about?" You asked wildly.

"You! Y/N you're so clueless! I'm absolutely, head over heels, mind numbingly in love with you and you can't see it! It kills me to have to listen to you all the time, telling me you love someone else... I've tried so hard to keep it in. I couldn't risk ruining my friendship with you but I can't take it anymore, its killing me. I can't do it." He finished sadly, his hazel eyes glistening ever so lightly as he let his emotions get the better of him. You sat quietly stunned, you'd had no idea...

"Ash... Why didn't you tell me?"

"I couldn't! You're the most important person in the world to me, I'd rather be your friend than be nothing at all. I can't lose you." He spoke, barely a whisper. Your heart broke as his emotions poured out, how could you have known?

"I'm sorry Y/N, I couldn't hold it in anymore. I'm sorry." Ashton shook his head disappointed in himself. "I'm just going to leave." He said quickly, grabbing his coat and storming out of the door before you had a chance to protest, leaving you utterly alone.

Maybe I'll do a part 2 to this one, I'm not sure yet. Anyhow thanks for voting and commenting, much love.
