"tie 'em up. start with nico, then ms. stark." geryon ordered.

eurytion grumbled something under his breath, but did as he ordered. he tied nico's hands and legs together like a rodeo animal.

he tied us all up in the same way, and threw us in the corner. geryon was getting stuff ready for what i could only assume was a barbeque. he had disarmed all of us, even my hidden weapons. we had no way out.

"charmspeak," annabeth hissed from the corner of her mouth. i raised an eyebrow, unsure where she was going with this.

"charmspeak?"

"yes!"

"oh, oh!!" i finally understood her flow. taking a deep breath, i steeled my nerves. it's now or never. "mr. geryon," i called in charmspeak.

"yes?" he answered.

"you don't want to keep us, do you? maybe you should let us go, and that'd be much better. we won't even bother you. we'll just get up, grab percy and leave. that'd be much easier, don't you think."

both geryon and eurytion's eyes began getting foggier as i spoke. even my friends were being a little affected by the charmspeak.

"but... the gold?" geryon questioned.

"pshh. who cares about gold?"

"i do!"

i hesitated, "yeah, but, uh... you'll have a clear conscience if you let us go?" i said it more like a question.

unfortunately, the hesitation is what cost us. eurytion snapped out of my charmspeak quicker, but made no move until geryon gave the order.

"ah! you pesky little — eurytion! gag her! and the rest of them!!" geryon pointed an accusing finger.

i couldn't even get another word out, and eurytion had already tied a cloth around my mouth. he did the same with the rest of them.

"hmph!"
