i walked into my dad's workshop the next morning.

"spill," i ordered, crossing my hands over my chest.

he was sitting at the table, putting a bunch of pieces together. he looked up when i appeared in front of him. taking his gloves off, he placed them to the side.

"what do you mean?" he asked.

"you know what i mean!"

"do i?" he countered.

"ugh!" i threw my hands up in the air. turning, i pointed a finger at him accusingly, "there's something on your mind. ever since you got back from the cave, you've been distant. detached. something's bothering you. or you're worried, overthinking... something."

"what makes you say that?"

i pursed my lips, and tapped the side of my head, "women's intuition. a male like yourself wouldn't get it." shaking my head slightly, i sat down next to him, "so talk to me. what's going on in that big brain of yours?"

he sighed and rapped his knuckles against my head, "nothing you need to worry 'bout, minnie."

"not fair!" i exclaimed, getting up. "remember what you told me — what you always tell me? whenever i'm being all moody and gloomy you make me talk to you. you always tell me that we're a team, and 'it's us two against the world'. you tell me you went against obadiah when you decided to keep me. you went against your father figure's decision so you could fulfil your role, of being my father. you went against pepper, and rhodey, and happy when you decided to tell the press about me. you wanted the world to know you had a kid, and you didn't regret it. you wanted to show the world you weren't embarrassed by me. you went against everyone who was a family to you at one point for me. and after you went against obi and signed the papers for my full custody, what'd you say to me? huh? you told me 'it's us against the world'. you told me the same thing when you announced my existence to the world. you told me that whenever you wanted me to get out of my moods and talk to you."
