three days.

that's how long it'd been since i left my cabin. since percy's been missing. since i'd eaten something besides granola bars or coffee. the days and nights seemed to blur together.

i often thought about percy and my last moments together in mt st. helens. i didn't tell anyone about the kiss we shared. it was something private, something i didn't want to share.

i'd been sulking in my bed, pretending to be asleep whenever someone entered. just like i was doing right now.

"get up, beauty queen!"

"shut up!" aurora hissed. "let her be."

i could practically feel clarisse's glare. "she's been like this for three fuckin' days. she need to get up on her feet, and show the world that she's stronger than one stupid boy."

it was silent for a few seconds, before clarisse spoke again, "besides, chiron needs her to talk to a new camper. trevor was freaking out about the kid. if she looks like that, she's probably going to scare the shit outta him."

another voice spoke up, "don't be rude, clarisse. but yeah, we need her help with the new camper."

katie seleny. a daughter of ares. unlike most of her siblings, she thought her revenge through, which made her much more dangerous. even though she was only eleven, she was brave, and incredibly talented at swordfighting.

i finally sat up in my bed, not wanting katie to have to stop the two from fighting. "thanks, clarisse. can you tell chiron i'll be there in a few minutes?" my voice sounded like how i felt. hollow and broken.

clarisse's eyes softened (barely), "sure."

as soon as clarisse and katie left, i pulled myself out of bed. clarisse was right, it was gonna take a lot more than a boy to drag me down. he could still be there, we just had to look. aurora bit her tongue back, but helped me get ready.
