i was shown my quarters.

it was a small hammock. that's it. nothing else. small, and empty. it smelt musty, like an old broom closet.

"would you like your coffee now lady..."

"riley." i offered the skeleton. "and no. i'll take it when i wake up."

"sure thing m'lady." the skeleton said leaving the room.

i layed down on the hammock and let sleep consume me.

like most nights, i didn't get dreams.

waking up, i walked upstairs. i stood on the spar deck, looking out at the sea. a skeletal soldier gave me a steaming cup of coffee. it was a single espresso. there was a lot of cream and sugar.

within the next minute annabeth and tyson were up with me. alarm bells began blaring, startling me so much i choked on my coffee.

"what's going on?" annabeth asked, patting my back.

"we're nearing the entrance to the sea of monsters." one of the mummies grinned.

i stood up straight, and continued drinking my coffee. if only i saved some powdered donuts.

the alarms stopped, and i looked over at the sea anxiously.

the alarms rang again and percy came up. he stood next to me. i finished my coffee, and gave it to one of the soldiers. out of the four of us (tyson, percy, annabeth, and i) i feel like i was the most comfortable around a bunch of undead soldiers. to be honest i was only actually terrified of like, three or four things. undead soldiers weren't up there.

i turned to percy. "what's wrong?" i asked.

"huh?"

"i can practically feel the anxiety rolling off of you." i told him, using hand gestures and changing my facial expression to something sour.

"was it a dream?" i asked softer.

he nodded, but didn't speak. he seemed bothered by something.
