"ouch."
i groaned as i sat upright and massaged the crick in my neck. i had fallen asleep on the couch, just to take a little nap. an hour later, i crashed to the floor.
but, that wasn't what woke me.
i heard something. there was a weird noise from the kitchen and i woke. there wasn't supposed to be anyone home.
my dad was out with pepper signing some papers that would clear him of a stunt. happy was with them. uncle rhodey was at the air base.
it was probably a robber.
i wondered who would be stupid enough to try and rob this house. then i wondered if it was a monster. or maybe there was another peacock. or cow. i shivered at the thought of hera's pets.
not wanting to take any chances i grabbed a baseball bat and laced it with energy. if it was a human, i'd drop the energy lacing, and if it was a monster, (peacock or cow), i would attack.
i creeped along the floor, approaching the kitchen. i've lived in this house my entire life. i knew exactly where to step when you're sneaking, and just how much pressure to put so you don't make noise.
a little shuffle sounded. there was something behind the island. i took a few deep breaths, trying to calm myself. i've faced many monsters, so why was my heart still pounding?
with the baseball bat above my head, i jumped in front of the intruder.
