"i can't move," uncle rhodey's voice came through as my dad connected us. "i'm locked up. tony, go! the whole system's been compromised."

"let's take it outside," my dad muttered before flying off.

the drones fired at the ceiling, shattering the glass panels. civilians screamed as the glass rained down on them from above.

"oh shit," i muttered.

i thrust my hands up, an energy dome catching the loose pieces of glass as they fell. the energy burned through the glasses, a small explosion sounding as my dome dropped.

i winced as i fell back, the invisible energy that had been covering ethan and i disappearing.

ethan helped me up, and looked around at the chaos.

"what are we supposed to do?"

"get the civilians to safety," i told him. "then i need a computer to reboot rhodey's systems."

"will you be able to?" he asked, slight doubt in his voice. "vanko's got a lot more experience than you."

"i created a secure server when S.H.I.E.L.D — the most secure organization in the world — cut off our communications," i told him matter-of-factly. "if i can hack them, vanko'll be a walk in the park."

ethan and i worked quickly, helping the civilians rush to safety. i used my energy to lock up the doors on the expo, not letting anyone in, only letting civilians out. we'd torn off a piece of our shirts and covered the bottom half of our faces, like masks. that way, no one would be able to recognize us.

ethan's powers also came in handy. he was able to tell when someone was about to trip, or get hurt, and i wrapped them up in energy from afar, ultimately saving them.

all things considered, we made a good team.

i heard uncle rhodey yell about a target lock on my dad and guns firing in the background through my earpiece. i pushed all that to the side when i noticed a little kid in an iron man mask standing in the field, looking around.
