after mr. d got tired of hearing nico talk about his card game, he dismissed him

i took nico away from the big house, and leaned down to talk to him.

"that was amazing, squirt," i told him.

"what was?" he asked, sounding confused.

"i've never seen mr. d look so perplexed. you know, i like you. you're adorable. i'm keeping you. what do you think, squirt?" i asked him, ruffling his head.

"yay!" he cheered.

"it's official. i have a child!" i announced.

turning around, i allowed nico to jump onto my back. carrying him away, i gave him a quick tour of the camp. we went through the fields and were walking towards the cabins.

"which one's your cabin?" he asked me.

"that one," i pointed out the aphrodite cabin.

he made a face, "that's your cabin?"

"hey!" i protested. "it's not like i chose my parents. besides, it's actually not that bad."

he shrugged. "which one's my cabin?" he asked looking around.

"that one," i pointed towards the hermes cabin. "you're undetermined. meaning you're godly parent hasn't claimed you yet. until you're claimed you'll be living in the hermes cabin."

"cool."

i dropped him off at the hermes cabin. after giving travis and connor strict rules, repeating the rules to brooklyn and ellie, then re-repeating them to ellie, and a few threats, i left.

"bye, squirt."

"bye, riley!"
