*C* "Since I cannot communicate with her, I've asked her to point the offenders out to me." He walked over to me and brought me in front of them.

I froze, my eyes looking over each one and growing more fearful. Some were huge, some held guns or had large knives hanging from their belts. My brain ran through countless scenarios of how they could end my life with a single blow, little to no effort exerted on their end.

I felt over exposed in this skimpy gown, the wind made me shiver despite the sun being high in the sky. Thankfully none of the men seemed to acknowledge my outfit.

*C* "Sir." One of them addressed Lei. *C* "May I speak?" He asked.

Lei nodded.

*C* "None of us have done this, sir. You are the only one with the keys."

Lei seemed to acknowledge his point, and then patted his pockets for the keys.... The keys Lucas had in his pocket. He came up empty handed, and then went right back to being on my side.

*C* "They are missing." He said.

The henchmen's eyes widened, and they all looked at each other again, now with some suspicion.

*C* "First of all, would any of you like to just come forward and tell the truth? Possibly face less harsh punishments?" Lei offered them.

I was obviously unable to know anything that was being said or what was happening so I just stood there terrified that they would figure it out and all these big scary men would come at me.

There was silence.

*C* "No?" Lei gave them one more chance.

More silence.

*C* "Alright then, Lucas, please ask her to tell me who it was."

Lucas looked super surprised at the fact that Lei had just included the word please in a sentence regarding him. It took him off guard for a minute and he hesitated.

*C* "Lucas?" Lei asked again.

He snapped out of it and nodded.

"Uh, yes. Zeda, pick one..." Lucas sounded nervous now, too. "Maybe uh ... pick the big ones." He suggested.

My heart pounded as I stepped closer to the eight men all standing in a line shoulder to shoulder.

I felt sweat drip down my forehead and my hands shook as I raised my hand to the biggest man in the center of the line and pointed my finger at him.

"Uh... him, first." I gulped.

He was probably over six foot five and was pure muscle. His dark brown, almost black eyes glared at me as the sun beat down on him, making sweat form on his face as well, his chest heaving as he breathed heavily in anger with his baseball mitt fists clenched.

*C* "Zeke?" Lei spoke to the man. Whose eyes didn't leave mine, piercing straight into my soul. *C* "Is this true?"

Zeke shook his head, still not breaking eye contact with me.

*C* "Then why would she pick you?"

*C* "Cuz she's a nasty little liar. They all are."
