The boys hadn't seen which way he went, so they came bursting through the door frantically looking around in the pouring rain.
They could hear girls calling for Lucas, and then they saw the small herd of them trying to catch up to him. He had his hands in his pockets, speed walking and trying to keep a distance between himself and the crazy girls. The girls heard Johnny calling for him.
"Is your name Lucas?" One called to him.
"Come back, Lucas! Let us show you a good time!" Another called.
"Yeah, you can forget about that girl, c'mon! She's nothing!" One yelled especially loud, the final two words ringing in Lucas's ears, circling through his head while he had flashbacks of his nightmare of Zeda & Vince together.
He stopped in his tracks for a moment, putting his palm to his forehead, feeling dizzy from all the alcohol.
"Yeahhh!" One yelled, sounding closer than before, which kicked in Lucas's instinct to flee once again, only this time running through the streets.
Johnny and Winwin weren't far behind the girls and saw Lucas take off after the women's taunts.
"Lucas! Dude, come back." Johnny called.
"Lucaaaaass!" A girl yelled.
The boys started running after Lucas, who was already out of their sight.
After hours of endless searching, the boys were drunk, drenched in rain, exhausted, and had just about given up on the wild goose chase he had them on the entire night.
*C* "Maybe he just went to the ship." Winwin said, stopping to catch his breath.
*C* "Alright. Yeah, let's turn in for the night. He's an adult, he can handle himself." Johnny agreed, and they headed back.
Their clothes being sopping wet, they started stripping off what they could right at the bottom of the stairs they entered from. Their sweaters, shirts, socks and shoes.
"Lucas!" Johnny called, hoping for an answer.
They waited, but no reply.
Johnny sighed and shook his head. "What has gotten into that guy?"
"This must be so hard for him." Winwin said sadly. "Can I see the picture?"
"I would show you, but Lucas still has my damn phone." Johnny said angrily, picking up his wet clothes from the ground and bringing them straight to the washer, and Winwin followed doing the same.
Johnny was fuming as he got dressed into dry clothes and started getting ready for bed. He couldn't get his mind off of everything and wanted answers. He decided to walk into Winwin's room.
"What's up?" Winwin asked.
"Vince's phone number is public, let me call him off your phone."
Winwin sighed. "Fine. If it will make you feel better." He handed Johnny his phone.
He dialed the number and put it on speaker, taking a seat beside Winwin.
"Hello?" Vince answered.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Johnny sassed.
"I'm sorry? Who is this?"
"It's Johnny, you asshole. What gives you the right to mess with people's lives like you do?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Vince, is that Johnny?" They heard a woman's voice in the background.
"Zeda?"
"Vince give me the damn phone for a minute!" She yelled, and then they heard a scuffle.
"Johnny?"
"Zeda, is it you?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's me."
"What the hell, Zeda!" Winwin chimed in angrily, shocking everyone.
"Woah, hey. Winwin I'm sorry to have left you guys like that, okay. I've just-"
"How could you do that to Lucas?" He interrupted.
"I'm gonna try to talk to him soon. Everything will be okay. I think he will forgive me."
"Forgive you?" Johnny chimed in, showing a little anger himself.
"Yeah. This was all just a mess, but I think things can be mended. Nothing bad has been done."
"Nothing bad?" Winwin said.
"What are you guys talking about?"
"Why are you with Vince right now?" Johnny asked.
"I didn't have any money for a cab and it's a four-hour car ride to our town."
"No, why are you with him?" Winwin questioned.
"What are you talking about? I'm clearly missing something." Zeda was confused.
"Vince what did you tell them?"
"I didn't say shit, now give me my phone back."
They heard shuffling.
"Johnny!" Zeda yelled, but then the line hung up.
The boys looked at each other.
"I'm starting to think the message was not the truth." Johnny said.
"Like ... she is not with Vince?"
Johnny nodded.
"Damn..."
They both sighed, their minds running wild with thoughts about what was going on. What was Zeda doing? And where was Lucas?
They said their goodbyes and went to bed for the night.
The next morning there was no sign of Lucas, so the boys got ready to go out looking for him.
But thankfully, right as they were exiting the ship, they saw him walking down the long pathway to the dock, he was headed back to the ship.
