They had valet parking and people walking in were dressed to the nines just as we were.
Lucas had his arm joined with mine, and we were both walking with our heads high and hearts full, knowing our troubles would finally be over and we could move on.
All I had to do was say yes.
We weren't able to choose our own table, so we got stuck in the middle of the crowded dining room.
Thankfully there was a generous distance between us all, but I was feeling shy about everything now.
Lucas adjusted his collar and was looking around us. He looked nervous, too.
But when our eyes met, we both calmed down a little.
It didn't matter what anyone else thought, just that we were happy, and together.
We'd been through so much worse; we could handle this.
He put his hand onto mine on top of the table.
"I'm so happy I got to see you again." He said with a smile.
