*****
After gathering my things from the hotel, I got back into the same cab and headed to the airport, tears stinging my eyes with every passing moment. I was so mentally drained; I desperately needed a break. From everything.
We all had made some mistakes, but I had to just try and let them go. Forget them. The fact that I was still in the midst of making one was driving me mad, I wanted so badly to just close my eyes and be back at home. Before I met Vince, before ... everything. The car simply couldn't move quick enough to satisfy my anxiety.
I realized after it was far too late, that the man chauffeuring my ride just so happened to be the same one from our trip to the hotel. The off-putting, overbearing, and unnerving man that topped off our night of anguish with sprinkles of sexual harassment and disrespect.
"So, how'd I get lucky enough to catch you twice?" He asked, noticing my facial expression abruptly change through the rearview mirror.
We were already on the highway going seventy miles an hour.
I laughed nervously, trying to stay calm and play it cool.
"Yeah ... huh ... it's a strange coincidence."
"So, where you headed?"
"Home."
"You don't sound so sure about that." Those words made me shiver with fear.
"I'm just tired." I tried to cover my undying fear with a nonchalant excuse.
"Jet lag. Flying all over. Lots of people are expecting me. My uh ... my brother is waiting for me at the airport we're taking the same flight." I lied.
'What the fuck, dude?!' I panicked internally.
Why is all this happening to me? When will it end? Will it ever? What have I done to deserve this? Had I gotten too comfortable too quickly with everything thrown my way? Tolerating Vince's abuse and infidelity, falling for Lucas too fast and growing too close too quickly, even on Lei's ship in the face of danger we decided to forget about it and fornicate. I started to wonder if I did have this coming. I also wondered what the boys were doing right then.
When we finally pulled up to our destination, there was no one in sight.
"What the hell?" I mumbled to myself.
The moment the car was stopped I reached to open the door, but the very second my fingers touched the handle, the locks clicked.
The man slowly turned to me with an evil grin.
"Just ...Give me your number ... and I'll let you go." He demanded.
"No thank you sir."
I tried to keep things defused, again trying my hand at the lever.
"I have to see you again."
"Please sir I just-." I couldn't hold back my irritation anymore.
"I'm not ever coming back to this fucking place anyway so just unlock the damn door!" I shouted at him, clawing at the lock and I somehow pulled it from its hole in the door.
I quickly opened it, but he reached into the back seat and grabbed my arm, yanking me back inside.
I screamed, continuously trying to yank myself away but couldn't break free from his grip.
I thought I was a goner. He was going to drive off with me in the car.
"Fuck! Not again, not again, No!" I shrieked at the top of my lungs.
