**(To help with the story, so it's not just 'they spoke to each other' I am going to write what the men are saying in their native language, in english (I do not know Chinese) so that we will know what they are saying, but Zeda does not and Lucas will still need to translate for her. Chinese will be labeled *C* )

"Are you an angel?" I asked, mesmerized.

My throat burned with the words and I'm sure he could hear the strain in my voice.

He chuckled and revealed his pearly white and straight teeth.

"Uhm ... no, miss." He said with an Asian sounding accent.

"Am I dead?" I asked.

He again laughed and shook his head, repeating, "No, miss."

He set me down on a seat in a paddle boat and then tied a rope around a handle of the raft. He then began paddling back to a large ship.

I hadn't even noticed it before. How could I have missed it? It was massive. I was dizzy, disoriented, and paranoid.

'Where is this man taking me?' I thought frantically. 'Oh my god. I'm getting kidnapped.'

I tried to move but was stopped by a throbbing sensation in my foot, along with immense pain ringing through my arms and back. I glanced down at my feet now in the light of day and could see it was bruised and extremely swollen.

"Do not walk, miss." The man told me.

"Where are you taking me?" I demanded.

"You are very hurt. We have someone who can help you." He reassured me.

We quickly reached his ship, and he tied the same rope that was attached to the raft around a small hole in the front of the paddle boat and tossed the remaining rope around his shoulder.

"I must carry you." He said, gesturing to the ladder on the side of the boat.

I hesitated, scared at what I would encounter once I was up there.

He picked me up, only this time putting me over his shoulder, so he had one arm to hoist us up the ladder.

I gasped, not expecting to be swept up off my feet.

We reached the top and he gently set me down and went back to the edge with the rope still in hand.

He called out something, and two other men came over, grabbing some of the rope. They hoisted the paddle boat onto the deck, and then the raft followed. I was awestruck at their strength.

They caught their breath, and then were speaking to each other, laughing, but I couldn't understand.

*C* "I was almost sure she was dead."

*C* "Yeah well, you owe me twenty bucks."

One of them deflated the raft and rolled it up, tying it with the rope. The other two approached me and kneeled down beside me.

*C* "Are you okay?"

I looked at them with confusion. I could see their eyes lingering on my forehead. One reached out a hand to touch it, but I instinctively flinched and leaned away from him.

He gave me a sad but reassuring look and again extended his hand to me, sliding my hair from my face and touching my forehead. I winced in pain, and he quickly pulled away.
