The next morning, they were again woken by Vince arriving. They heard his truck engine outside and all sat up to prepare for what was about to happen.
"Be careful, Miss Zeda." Lucas whispered to her, her back to his chest and his arms wrapped around her.
"I'm scared. I don't know if I can." She admitted for his ears only.
"How do you think we got out of everything else we've been through, baby?" He asked and brushed a hair from her face.
She froze and her eyes widened. This was exactly from her hallucination when she escaped.
"You." He said.
She gulped.
She was questioning again if she really did lose her mind and the boys weren't there, as real as it all had seemed. Her entire world was crashing before her, and her mind was bugging out. What if she was really just sitting alone in this barn?
".... But..." She stuttered.
"It's always you." He said, and Zeda felt lightheaded.
She began breathing heavily as Vince's footsteps neared and the door burst open.
"Good morning, Losers." He said.
He started closing the door, and everyone panicked internally.
"Hey, why don't you leave the door open? Give us some fresh air?" Johnny asked.
Vince scowled at him. "What do you think I'm stupid?" He asked.
Everyone was silent. Had he known their plan?
"There's a hole in the damn roof. All that's in here is fresh air." He said and again started to shut the door.
They wanted to sigh with relief because their plan wasn't foiled, but the door was still closing. There was no real relief.
Winwin was panicking, too. His adrenaline racing and his hands shaking with fear.
*C* 'What do I do? Shit, what do I do? What do I do?' He thought to himself.
The door was closing, and who knows what Vince was going to do.
Winwin looked around frantically, and there was obviously nothing in the barn around them, he had nothing.
His head slumped down for a moment, feeling as if he failed before he even started, and his gaze was on his lap, which his hands were in.
His hand that was in the chain. He realized what he was looking at.
The chains around his wrist.
