I took Lei's hand and turned him away for a moment, hoping Lucas would motion to Johnny to not shoot him. And he did, swiping his hand across his neck repeatedly as if saying 'stop', 'cut it out', or 'no'. Johnny looked confused.

I looked up into Lei's eyes and I smiled, simply just trying to distract him so Johnny could get on board. He grinned ear to ear staring at me intently.

Soon he leaned in to kiss me, but I turned my head and let him plant one on my cheek. I returned one to his.

Johnny was only a few feet behind him now, still holding his gun. Lucas motioned for him to cock it, and he abided.

Lei's eyes grew wide, and his smile dropped, as his arms fell to his sides.

He turned around to see Johnny pointing it at his face.

I slid the gun from Lei's belt and stepped back, causing him to turn back to me in confusion and hurt.

I raised it, there now being two guns on him.

He slowly raised his hands in the air as a surrender.

*C* "But .... Why?"

I sighed, sensing the confusion and sadness in his voice.

"Lucas ... just ... tell him we're not gonna hurt him, okay?" I said.

*C* "Just do what we say we won't kill you. We want out. Zeda has asked that you be spared." He told him.

*C* "So... you were all lying to me?" Lei grew angry and shook his head in frustration and defeat. *C* "And you ... convinced me to kill ... all of my men?"

*C* "We only told you one lie and you ... believed everything else after that."

Lei just laughed and sighed, his hands still in the air. *C* "I should have known."

*C* "So, will you cooperate with us? Or do we need to kill you too?" Johnny chimed in.

*C* "What do you want me to do?"

*C* "Let us take our ship back, and leave. That's it." Lucas told him.

*C* "Fine. On one condition." His arms fell to his sides as he negotiated.

*C* "And what is that?"

*C* "Let me be alone with her. Five minutes. Please."

Lucas looked at me, relaying the message and I lowered my gun.

"This is his only condition, and he will let us go."

"Why? He can't even talk to me."

Lucas shrugged. "You don't have to. Who knows what he's thinking."

I looked to Lei, and he seemed to be pleading with his eyes.

"I'll do it." I said.

Lucas raised his brows with surprise. "Do you really think we can trust him, Miss Zeda?"

I nodded. "I believe he won't hurt me."

Lucas motioned for Johnny to lower his pistol and told Lei his good news. A smile stained his face as he approached me.
