Their search begun in the dusty archives of the Ministry of Magic, sifting through old banishment records and obscure magical treaties. James, with his knack for getting information, charmed a few reluctant clerks into helping, while Sirius relied on his old contacts from less savory corners of the wizarding world. Clues led them across Europe, from hidden wizarding villages in the Alps to forgotten libraries in Spain, each whisper bringing them closer to Khaleesi's hidden sanctuary.
Along the way, they encountered resistance – disgruntled members of Khaleesi's family who believe she was wronged, dark wizards eager to exploit her power, and even a few old flames who aren't too happy to see James and Sirius poking around. Each encounter tested their skills and their friendship, forcing them to rely on their wits, their wands, and their unwavering loyalty to Cassie. But with every obstacle they overcame, their determination grew stronger, fueled by the image of a young girl fighting for her life on the hallway floor.
The trail finally leads them to a secluded island in the Outer Hebrides, shrouded in mist and ancient magic. Khaleesi is there, living a simple life, tending a garden of rare herbs and potions ingredients. But when James and Sirius arrive, they find her guarded, wary of outsiders. It takes all of Sirius's charm and James's earnestness to convince her of the danger Cassie is in and their genuine desire to help.
"Khaleesi. Please." Sirius begged. "It's really me you're the only one who can save Cassie."
"Sirius." Khalessi replied quietly. "I thought you would've been killed already. The war-."
"That war's over." It ended when Voldemort killed me and Lily, when Harry was a baby." James explained.
"But how," Khalessi's guard was up again. "You've just said it yourself. You died."
"So did I, a few years ago. But you see, our lovely daughter thought she'd bring us all back to life."
Khaleesi panicked, knowing the dangers. "You can't let her do that Sirius. You don't understand the implications that can have."
"Well thanks for the parenting advice. Shall I just kill my self, James and Lily and call it square one?" Sirius scoffed. He really wasn't interested in advice off of Cassie's mother who was still alive, yet never attempted to make contact.
"Yes why don't you. Save us all some hassle." Khalessi hit back. Their history still prominent.
"Can we save this for another day? Cassie's dying!" James exclaimed quickly, diverting their attention back to what was most important.
A rare flicker of maternal instinct rushed over Khalessi's features. Cassie was her daughter. She wasn't completely heartless.
"Tell me everything." Khalessi insisted as she hurried collecting vials off all sorts of things neither men recognized.
"And you're sure, it's her blood it's reacting with?"
"Well yeah I think. That's what they said." Sirius stuttered.
"Sit." Khaleesi ordered. "What I have created alone will not save her if it's her blood it is reacting to. Half of my blood, and half of your blood is the only way to cure her." she explained, forcefully shoving a needle connected to a long flexible tube into his arm. "Don't pass out."
Sirius gritted his teeth, the pain a sharp, unwelcome distraction. "What now?" he managed to ask, his voice strained.
Khaleesi ignored his discomfort, her eyes focused on the vial filling with his blood.
"Now," she said, her voice low and intense, "we prepare the elixir. This isn't a simple potion, James. It requires a precise combination of ingredients, a delicate balance of energies. One wrong move, and we could kill her."
