ignoring prank on her (requested)

You heard the front door close, followed by Selena calling out your name and her feet hurriedly running up the stairs to get to you.

Usually, you'd meet her halfway or appear in the doorway and bring her in for a hug and a kiss.

But today, you couldn't do that. Not when your friends dared you to pull this prank on Selena. And you know already, judging by the flutter in your heart from the sound of her voice, that it was gonna be a long twenty-four hours.

She appeared in the doorway a moment later. She was smiling from ear to ear, so happy to see you and be home with you after her busy day. She fell onto the bed beside you, but you pretended not to notice and distracted yourself with your phone.

"Hey, angel," she greeted you before kissing your cheek. "I missed you today. How was your day?"

You didn't reply and she frowned a little. She put her hand on yours and brushed her fingers in circles along your knuckles, hoping it'd get your attention and get you to look down at her. But you only continued to scroll through your Instagram feed, much to her dismay.

"Are you alright, baby? Is something wrong?"

You still didn't answer and she looked down at her lap with sad eyes. You could feel them on you a moment later. You felt her staring at you, felt her trying to hold your hand a little tighter in hopes that you'd speak to her.

"Did I do something wrong? You know you have to tell me if I did, so we can work through it."

You locked your phone and it made Selena's eyes light up. But her hope was shattered, her heart breaking when you reached for the remote to turn on the tv. She watched you flip through the channels while thinking to herself about how last night and early this morning went.

Everything seemed fine. You kissed goodnight and shared another before she headed out for the day. She told you she loved you and you repeated the words back to her, and quite happily. Everything seemed fine this morning. So... what changed?

She couldn't figure it out. She was left confused and saddened as she watched you carry on with your day like she wasn't tearing up beside you. For the first time since you started dating nearly a year ago, she felt invisible.

It's not something she's used to feeling around you. Usually, you're the only one that makes her feel seen. You know her; the real her. So it was a strange and heartbreaking feeling. One that left her with tears in her eyes.

"Okay. Clearly, you don't want to talk to me. I don't even think you want me around so I'm gonna go downstairs. If you need me, I'll be there."

Her voice cracked and on unsteady knees, she got up from the bed. But it was only a second later that she fell back down, falling onto it with a cry as you ook her hand.

"You're crying," you mumbled and started to rub her back comfortingly. "I'm sorry. I never meant to make you cry."

"What'd you expect? I love you and I love the sound of your voice and I felt like I didn't exist for a few minutes there."

"I'm sorry, Sel. My friends dared me to prank you but it was stupid and I shouldn't have."

"I agree with the last part." She mumbled and looked up at you, eyes locking and a smile tugging at her lips despite the tear-stains on her cheeks.

"I love you. Please forgive me?"

"Okay... but you have to cuddle me." She said, her eyes becoming brighter already.

"deal, baby." You happily agreed and she fell onto the bed, pulling you into her arms and holding you tight as she let her worries fade away in your arms and began to feel happy once again.
