paparazzi get too close

You leaned your head down on Selena's shoulder as you strolled hand in hand down the sidewalk.

You had just finished dinner at a romantic spot downtown. It was so nice to get to spend time like this with her again. Her schedule has been quite hectic, but it's starting to slow down a little now and it allowed for you to spend time together.

The sun had set. The sky was dark. The only light seemed to cone from the streetlights. She suggested something about going home for a scary movie and you were just about to agree; however, the sound of large and fast footsteps on the ground made both your heads turn, and the words get caught in your throat.

The bright flashes followed quickly, along with both your names being called. You didn't miss the way your girlfriend rolled her eyes then let go of your hand to wrap her arm around you and hug you close to her side.

"Let everything they say go in one ear and out the other. I won't let you go. The car is just a block or two away. Keep your head down if you can." She whispered into your ear, her only focus in that moment being you and getting both of you to the car as quickly as possible.

The flashes were bright but it wasn't so much the lights that worried you. More than that, it was the tug on your shirt as one of the men tried to get your attention.

"Y/N! Look here!" He yelled.

A huff came from Selena's lips. She never liked the way they invade her privacy and space, but it always seems to worry her more when it's you they're after.

"Y/N!"

The same guy yelled, but he was clearly growing frustrated that you weren't looking his way.

"I see the car!" Selena said, breathing out a sigh of relief.

But it was all too soon, because the next thing you knew that same man was yelling in your ear. You gasped and covered them in a panic. Selena's eyes went wide. She tightened her grip around you and looked at the paparazzi.

"Absurd! Don't ever do that. Give her some space, she's scared!" She yelled out and pulled the keys from her pocket. She hit the panic button and you both followed the sound until you reached the car.

You climbed inside and Selena quickly pulled out of the parking spot. She sped away, going a block or two away from them before pulling over to check on you.

"Are you alright? Oh, Angel. You're trembling." She noticed. Hands gently on your cheeks, she swiped her thumb along your soft skin. "I'm gonna get us home. I say we spend the night cuddling and watching all the movies we can."

A smile tugged at your lips before you stole a kiss from Selena's. "As long as you hold me tight, I don't really care what we do. Just don't let me go for the rest of the night, please."

She smoothed your hair back and kissed your forehead softly. "I'll never let you go, sunshine."
