There I sat, as uncomfortable as ever, in the presence of none other than Professor Snape's. Just as promised, McGonagall had dragged us straight to his office, and to make matters even worse— sat Malfoy right next to me.

I couldn't help but steal a glance at where Professor McGonagall stood over Snape. "Snitch." I muttered to myself.

"It has to come to my attention..." Snape started, which made me sink lower into my seat. Here we go... "There has been a serious incident between you two that must not go unnoticed..."

His dulcet tone was seriously going to make me fall asleep.

"I am aware of the current relationship between the two of you," Snape drawled, his dark, bottomless gaze switching between Malfoy and I. "And how utterly... pathetic the constant bickering is."

Professor Snape and McGonagall exchanged a glance. "Which is why we've came up with an idea that may help you two bond... whether you like it... or not."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I cross my arms around my chest.

"Don't speak unless told to speak, L/N." Snape glared at me. Twat. "Now... since you are so obviously keen to know, I'm sure you will both be over the moon to find you have new schedules... which are identical."

"You're joking." My jaw dropped. Malfoy's knuckles popped from how hard he gripped the edge of his seat.

"Of course I'm not joking." Snape's voice was hollow. I slumped back into my seat and huffed. "Now, in order to bond outside of class, we have also decided to make some... room changes."

Malfoy's previous "I don't care about anything" facade had completely faded by now. In fact, he seemed to care more than me. He wouldn't stop bouncing his leg under the table.

"You two will be moving from your current dormitory into a new, separate room."

If he puts our rooms right next to each other I swear to...

"That you two will be sharing. Together."

"What?!" Malfoy and I burst out in unison. This time neither of us were laughing. "Together?!"

"I can't be with him!" I exclaimed, looking over at the porcelain boy beside me. "He's a psychopath! He'll set my hair alight during the night!"

"Thanks for the idea, L/N." Malfoy's lip curled into a twisted smile.

Snape and McGonagall both let out disappointed sighs. "We believe it's for the best." McGonagall tried to assure us, "Long-term."

"This is long-term?!" I whined.

McGonagall looked over at Snape. Snape just shrugged, so she turned back to us and nodded.

"I feel you two could actually learn to get along if you pushed this current... rivalry aside." She explained. "You're both intelligent young people—,"

"No." I shook my head, "No, absolutely not. This has to be a joke!"

"You're going to wish it was a joke." Snape drawled. Malfoy barked a laugh at that comment. However, Snape turned to him and sneered. "I don't know why you're laughing, boy. I expect I'll have a letter from your father by morning."

Malfoy's face fell. "Hey..." he murmured.

"Screw this," I jumped abruptly from my seat. "I'm leaving."

"Pack your bags!" Snape called after me. Malfoy got from his seat to follow, but I slammed the office door on his face before he could leave. Moments later, it burst back open and Malfoy's furious footsteps rapped behind me.

"You— idiot!" He shouted, racing after me. When I ignored him, he grabbed onto my shoulder and turned me around to face him. His pupils had contracted to the point his eyes looked as though they were made of ice.

"Don't touch me." I hissed, pushing his hand off me.

"That's what you're worried about?" Malfoy snapped, "Look at what you've gotten us into!"

"What I've gotten us into?" I scoffed in disbelief. "Is your head seriously that far up your own arse you can't even take any accountability for something YOU started?"

Malfoy clenched his jaw. The pulse in his temples flared and his soul felt so contaminated with rage that it poisoned the air around us. "I suggest you keep that stupid little mouth shut before—," he lifted a finger, but before he could finish his sentence Snape swept out of his office.

"Do I seriously have to escort the pair of you to your dormitory like a pair of toddlers?" Snape sighed in frustration.

"It was her!"

"Was not! It was him!" I glared hard at Malfoy, which he was more than happy to return.

Snape rolled his eyes. Instead of wasting anymore time, he grabbed a fistful of each of our robes and yanked us down the hall with him. There was a tension so thick in the air I was surprised it hadn't slit my throat.

"Git," I mouth silently to Malfoy. He simply smirked in response.

The temperature in the castle started to drop as we approached the dungeons. Snape muttered the password to the mahogany door before us, and pushed it open to let us inside of the Slytherin common room. Everyone lounging around fell silent when they saw Snape enter. We trailed bitterly behind him.

To my dismay, our new dormitory was up the boy's staircase. Even after we'd passed multiple floors, our new room still wasn't in sight. It wasn't until we reached the very top floor of the dormitories that it flattened out in front of a mahogany door.

Snape pushed the door open and gestured inside. Thankfully, it was a decent sized dorm. Big enough to avoid Malfoy. It was decorated with warm cushions and rugs; and fortunately a couple of surfaces I could place my candles on. However, there just had to be a downside to everything.

I was expecting two separate, twin-sized beds draped in the usual Hogwarts curtains. Except, there wasn't. Instead, there was one. One, neatly made king-sized bed. This can not be happening...

Snape must've noticed our expressions, because he quickly slurred— "This is your new room. Don't complain about it either because I won't be listening. Goodbye." And just like that he turned on his heels and disappeared from sight.

Malfoy groaned. He shoved past me without a word and flopped down face first into the bed. I, however, remained in the doorway, still trying to process everything that'd just happened.

"Are you going to leave?" Malfoy's muffled voice emitted from where his face was still buried in the duvets. I dropped my shoulders with a sigh and uncrossed my arms.

"You know what..." I breathe, "Yeah. I am."

"Good." Malfoy stuck a thumbs up from where he continued to lay.

"Later," I smile sarcastically at the back of his head. When I turned around to leave, I made sure to turn the light off and shut the door after myself. "Hey!" I could hear Malfoy's voice shout through the mahogany panel.

I simply grinned to myself the whole way down the stairs after that. Oh how I loved to spite Malfoy...
