In the midst of the sound of joyous laughter, Draco's chair scraped the floor. I turned my head just in time to see him slinking away from the table; all of those around us too preoccupied by their Christmas cheer to notice.
I quietly slipped out of the kitchen after him. A glimpse of white-blond disappeared up the stairs into the next landing, so I followed, passing the heads of Kreacher's ancestors. The bedroom door had been left open, so my arrival was soundless.
Draco's back was to me. He was rummaging through the bag he'd brought with himself, searching. "I got you a present." He spoke without once looking at me. I blanched a little.
"You shouldn't have." I insisted, not moving from where I stood.
Draco finally turned around, a tiny, leather box centred in his palms. "But I wanted to," he insisted; a small grin on his face. I gave in with a sigh and closed the bedroom door behind me, my feet forcing me to cross the room towards him.
Draco extended the box, which appeared expensive on its own. I took it from between his fingers, careful to not drop it. He watched in anticipation as I pulled the lid from the box and stared down into it.
And there it was.
Glittering up at me was the most magnificent, diamond bracelet I'd ever set eyes upon. "Oh, Draco..." I whispered in awe. A relatively pleased smile expanded across his face as he watched my eyes water. "It's beautiful."
"I know." Draco wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me in closer. "I wanted the best for my pretty girl." He cooed, leaning forward to press his forehead against mine.
We stayed like that for a couple moments. But when Draco, finally pulled back, it was only for a moment; because he then leaned in and pressed a soft kiss against my lips. I scrunched the hem of his shirt out of nerves.
"Here," he broke the comfortable silence. "Let me put it on for you."
Draco carefully took the bracelet out of it's rightful box and wrapped it's thin chain around my wrist. The diamonds sent a sharp, icy sensation through my skin, all the whilst Draco closed the latch.
"There you go." Draco said, a proud smirk on his face. He turned my wrist over so the light hit the bracelet in all the right spots. "Just how I imagined it to be."
"I can't thank you enough." I whispered, unable to express all the feelings which tugged relentlessly at my hearts strings. So, I resorted into wrapping my arms around Draco's torso, squeezing him into a hug he was more than willing to accept.
Draco hummed contently. He brought a hand to the back of my head and gently stroked through my long, untamed curls.
"I got you something too," I muttered at last. Draco moved his hand to the front of my face and gently cupped the left side of my jaw. "Did you?" He tilted his head, smiling. I nodded.
Draco watched as I turned away and pulled again a tiny present from underneath the bed. His silver eyes glittered in the light when I passed him the box. He quickly unwrapped it, intrigued to know what laid beneath.
"Woah," he raised his brows in pleasant surprise. Draco didn't hesitate to lift the ring out of the box and examine it. It was in the shape of a serpent and wrapped around his finger as though it were bound to him.
